but Russell is by no means a top pairing guy, and let's be honest here, how much of an overpayment would we need to provide to get yandle interested in coming here? at that point you'd want to walk away from that deal.

This years 1st rounder + could get us a younger/cost controlled top pair (or close to top pair) d-man.

TJ Brodie, I think he is a 25 minute guy moving forward

Risto/Brodie
Bogo/Franson
Pysyk/McCabe

I would be happy with that group for a few years

Does calgary move him though? I was thinking SJ and ANA as prime targets.

I think it's funny how people were ready to say the rebuild failed and how Tim Murray needed to be fired after that Montreal game. What a difference 2 weeks makes.
- HonkFortheGoose

I don't think Murray is out of the woods yet.

2 of his big 3 moves have yet to pay off.

Sure it looks like the ROR/McGinn trade will be a success.

But let's not forget we gave up:

2 1st round picks
Myers
Stafford
Brenden Lemieux
Joel Armia
.......................All for 3 guys that have played a combined 8 games this season, and not one has a time table for return.

Eichel's best play last night isn't actually getting much discussion, I think because it didn't result in a goal.

It was the one where he carried the puck across the blue line in front of the rest of the team, drove the defender back to create space, treaded water for a bit just on the offensive side of the blue line while everybody else rushed passed him toward the net, and then cycled past the defender who was afraid to challenge him and shoveled a little saucey pass/shot toward the front of the net and dinged it off the outside of the post.

There was so much talent in that play, and the room the defender gave him just smelled of fear. It's going to be crazy watching this kid.

F Milbury, twice.

- Der Kaiser

The D men seem to be getting embarrassed when he bursts right by them, so they give him more room in front of him. This is similar (but I think Eichel is better, younger) to Pat Kane and the room / respect he is given.

Eichels power plays into it as well, defenders dont like getting thrown around like a sack of tots by a 19 year old forward.

Gudas and Simmonds for Foligno, Gorges, Larsson, Ruhwedel and a second

flyers get 3 young bodies (two top 9 players, a young 5/6 d man, a decent pick and a vet d man

we get a second pair d man and a second line winger

IMO if the flyers want a shake up with upside in return it gets the conversation started

- homiedclown

I'm not sure how much you've watched the Flyers this year, but I want nothing to do with Gudas. I don't think he's looked good AT ALL.

Could just be me though.

Calgary would be stupid to trade Brodie. I'd love to pry him out of there, but it's no coincidence that they've looked better since he started playing this season.

It sucks you guys are missing bogosian and kane cus you would be challenging for a playoff spot if so. Not to say you wont be there or just miss but I think bogosian is one of the most key players or your team.

Hopefully in this draft you guys can pick up a puck moving Dman that seems to be something you guys could use.

If they wanted Reinhart, it starts with Voracek. (Even that is risky, he has a huge contract)

You don't trade #2 overall picks for "A package of meh"

- ImThatGuy

I'm kind of worried Reinhart will never be very good. I don't think he will be a bust, just doesn't look like he is providing much at this point.

Usually with young players, the talent is evident, but the mistakes or immaturity is what holds them back.

Reinhart just kind of doesn't do a whole lot.

Again, not saying he's a bust, would just be surprised if he is more than a 2nd line player for us down the road

He's right though.

With the exception of O'Reilly (who has been great) he's gotten really nothing out of any of his trades yet.

It is, especially against TB. I was gonna post last night that Johnson still scares me when he is in goal and glad I didn't lol. That one save was Hasek like.

And a happy Vets Day to all who served. Joch, Gerbe and whoever else served to protect this great nation I salute you. Thank you.

he needs to play with better guys then Deslauriers and Legwand

skunk is a feeder, 15-20 goals 50 or so assists, when mature

to put up those numbers, he needs to play with scoring wingers

as long as ror and eichel are on the dot, kane is on the shelf and ennis is in a funk, not going to happen

if you can't see his creativity in this small sample, value vision has coupons and I can send you a few from the sunday fish wrap

A big portion of what makes Reinhart good is his vision. He's still learning to process everything at a faster speed, and you can see sparks of it right now. It's just not consistent and it doesn't help that a large part of the team has had trouble finishing. There was a game a week or so ago (can't remember which it was exactly, Philly maybe?) that he made some REALLY good passes. The player that got the pass did a whole lot of nothing with it though.

Reinhart will probably never have a ton of goals every year. 20-25 is probably his ceiling. But I can easily see how he'd end up with a ton of assists though.

Right, they have been much improved in spite of the Kane and Lehner trade.

Like I have said before, we were going to be better regardless of the trades made.

Time will tell whether Kane/Lehner etc help us go from good to great.

I can't complain about O'Reilly, and McGinn is solid, other than that it's up in the air

I can, that doesn't make him an All-star though.

Like I said, he probably won't be a bust, but I don't see a franchise player at this point.

In the games I've seen, he has a bad habit of taking penalties at bad times. Think Mike Weber.

Hey look, I'm not saying Murray should go, just that he gambled big on those 2 trades that so far have played out exactly as some said they would, Lehrner, Bogo, and Kane were all known to be injury prone and so far they've lived up to exactly that.....and there's no denying we gave up a sh*t ton to get them.

Kane has completed 70% of the last 3 full NHL seasons
Bogo has completed 66% of the last 3 full NHL seasons

1. big difference between first line player and all star
2. he needs snipers to play with, not fringe 3rd line players
3. he does have potential to have all star vision on the ice
4. you ignored my coupons
