I thought the list was expanded to include Chicago and Nashville. I can't envision a way Chicago could work a deal for Marleau given their Cap situation and what SJ would want in return. Nashville, on the other hand, has arguably the best d-corps in the league and could probably figure out something Dougie Wilson would accept.
So, as a Hawks fan, I hope Marleau stays put. I really don't want to see the Preds improve because they're very good already. - EbonyRaptor
Chicago actually wants to win another Stanley Cup so that would eliminate their interest in Marleau. Nashville plays an high energy style another non match for Marleau. |

love reading about these "won't trade with a division rival" crap. It's like no one ever heard of a 3-way deal. Ok, it's not a trade directly with the rival but, all GM's involved know about the flip. So, essentially, it is a deal with a rival team. Put your thinking caps on and I'm sure you can figure out some 3-way swaps that all 3 teams can live with. There's a plethora of options, maybe even the author can come up with some "unthinkable" swaps and realize that this is not impossible...like previously stated.
A 3-way swap saves the face of all GM's involved when a player put strain on the ability to be moved, in this case; Marleau's list.
What is the likelihood of this happening?
Anaheim has cap space, they can easily go in on a 3-way deal and not have to worry about the cap hit too much.
Rangers need to shed some salary or an "overpaid"player". They will not have much luck working with Kings, they're in the same situation. They would have to give up some value to SJ in order to swap the pick to the other 2 players for a player fitting their mold.
Kings are in the same couch as Rangers. Options are few with a direct trade. Kings need salary to stay with SJ in order for a direct trade to happen. Their "dancing" partner in this deal would and could only be the Rangers (unless Chi and Preds are involved) and ship out an equal cap value or ask Rangers to retain salary, which space the Rangers don't have.
So, what is the likelihood of a 3-way swap with the Ducks or Kings? Slim to none with the Kings and very likely with the Ducks.
Unless SJ finds another dance partner i can only see Marleau going to the Ducks.
Edit: typed in Ducks or Kings, should only be Kings in the 5th paragraph. Sorry - puckhog
Marleau is not a fit with the Kings style of play, and clashed with Sutter when they were together in SJ. Anahiem plays a physical style of hockey which eliminates Marleau from them. Basically it leaves about 2 or 3 teams who might be interested in a declining 36 yr forward with a huge contract, who plays no defense and plays hard about 60% of the time.

There are lots of players on both Kings and Ducks that do not play a physical style of hockey. Kings have a lot of big players but, only a small sample on them plays physical. The Kings have changed and it's more of a puck aggressive style than physical these days. Puck possession is another huge game for the Kings and you don't need to be physical to hold on to the puck, or physical to be aggressive on the puck. So, I don't think the physicality would be an issue. The issue would be, for the Kings, if the defensive play is out the window.
Also, if you're in the right environment where everyone does the same in the spirit of a team, I don't think Marleau would have a hard time joining the rest and work his ass off for the cup. |

Let's be realistic here, the Kings don't need a declining 36 yr old winger, with an attitude problem and who doesn't play defense. We all know Sutter got fired in SJ because he demanded Marleau play hard and benched him twice for it.
Anaheim doesn't want Marleau either he doesn't fit there physical all in style of play. In actuality very few teams would be interested in Marleau, though I do think AV the coach of the Rangers would trade for Marleau as AV is a terrible team chemistry coach, who doesn't believe in the team concept. - Sharkfan48
I don't disagree. What they do need is a ~$6M contract off the books at the end of next season. Sutter has gone on the record recently stating that he is pretty unhappy with Brown's play so far this season, and his play the last two seasons has been pretty steadily declining. So do I think that Marleau is THE piece that the Kings need to add to the roster to push them to their 3rd Stanley Cup? Absolutely not. Do I think that trading Brown for Marleau gives the Kings a skilled (although declining) top-six winger, but also gives them cap flexibility next offseason when they need to sign Toffoli to an extension? Absolutely. At worst, the Kings exchange an underperforming and overpaid winger for another. At best, they get a skilled player to play on a line with Kopitar and Gaborik for a season and a half. |

Why would we trade Patty for Brown? A clear downgrade for us... |

You absolutely shouldn't. I'm just saying if there's gonna be a trade, that's what the core is going to have to be. |

I still support Jones, your fellow LA fans were praising him as he broke our francise record earlier this year. Bottom line is Quick is now just as average as Jones this year. Cool you won two cups, you guys "had" a good team, we will win one eventually. Welcome to 2015... - BeastModeS62
Ok....let's not get crazy here. Jones is a good goalie, a rookie nevertheless. This is his first year as a starter...Bernier was good a few games as well. The issue is; can he sustain a grueling schedule? I think that is the only thing the Sharks should concentrate on this season: evaluate what they have. Bernier is having a hard time being consistent, Jones have not played enough games to be evaluated accurately. He's well on his way to become a solid starter but, for now he's just riding adrenaline.
Quick as average is just BS, plain and simple. And, you know it. Te only knack on Quick is his propensity to get ticked off. He needs to stay cool and calm to be effective.
Drop the "had" a good team, Kings are good. Get them into the PO's and they will tear it up. You should know this by now. Who gives a flying F about regular season? Maybe you have become too accustomed to great pre-seasons and crappy PO's? |

I gotcha, there could be another solution. Brown isnt for this team, Patty realistically wouldnt help you guys much. Now your boy Toffoli, if you wanna make a trade thats someone I like alot. |

Hey, I'm not here to mock you or argue who's who. I don't think I've ever met a Sharks fan being an a-hole. I follow "Fear The Fin" everyday because SJ's a SoCal team and I'm a hockey fan. I know SJ will make it one day, and I will be there cheering them on if they go the distance. Good luck, dude. |

Although I don't think jones is consistent enough to be on quicks level quite yet, debating who has a more successful history is very different than debating who is better currently and will be better a couple years from now.... |

I'd say Quick has 2/3 of that debate locked down, and at some point in the future Quick will drop off, but by then Jones might not still be in the league. |

Exactly, people confuse this years comparison with career numbers. I would be stupid to think Jones is better overall. The truth is they have almost exact stats thus far this year, both teams suffering from under performing. Besides I love ribbing LA fans, they love it! |
