Their D was plenty good enough before the injuries. With the way the game was being called a shot blocker and someone who could get the puck out of the zone was all they needed.

If Golisano didn't step in and buy the Sabres, yes, it was a very real threat.

Was he always concerned about the bottom line? Yes. But it was because he needed the franchise to be a viable business. He knew 0 about hockey when he bought the team. But he did it as a stopgap until the appropriate owner could be found (Enter Terry Pegula).

I heard that he had multiple offers throughout the years to sell the team, but each one meant the team would be moved and he said no every time.

The Sabres Canes series went to game 7 and we had some health on the blue line when the series started. What makes you think the Sabres could have beat the Oilers when they weren't healthy on the blue line?
