Gagner misplaying the puck on the left boards on the PP in the 1st period when there was no one around him really sums up last night's game. He probably has the best hands on the team outside of Giroux, and yet he managed to cough the puck up without even being pressured. |

The dynamic player we saw in pre season, seems to have disappeared somewhat. I still like his puck skills and creativity, and his ability to shoot the puck, but he seems to be having defensive issues lately. - MJL
dynamic? really, dynamic? |

Thanks Bill. Well...uh...we played well for about 10 minutes. Next game, let's see if we can play 15 minutes..baby steps..baby steps.
Maybe if we can dangle a 6 year contract in front of the players, they can chase it around, and actually look like they can play a complete game. Then, when the game is over, we rip up the contract, and show them what it's like for the fans to watch the games; I'd love to see the shock on their faces when that happens...lol. |

Soooo..... How about Ryan White?
I had to laugh when he was the ones the announcers honed in to talk about. Says volumes about the rest of the team.
Sigh. |

I just think it's a bad idea. Finding a top 10 center is as hard as finding a top 10 dman.
If they wanted to make a major move, they should have traded Jake at last year's deadline. They opted to re-sign him, which was fine.
I feel their are much better options than trading Giroux. They can deal guys like Simmonds, Streit and B Schenn for mid-late first rounders. Look at what happened with Joe Thornton. The Bruins dealt him and got nothing in return. They were able to rebuild anyway, but imagine how many cups they would have won if they kept Thornton with Chara, Bergeron and Krejci. - PhillySportsGuy
There is definitely some drawbacks to it, but there is also a lot of reasons why if the right deal was available to do it. The Bruins made an awful trade, that's not a legitimate reason to show that trading Giroux would be a bad idea. Marco Sturm, and Brad Stuart?

Besides all of the hockey reasons. Cap wise I don't see how they would make it work with a team. Flyers aren't going to want to take salary back. Their going to want picks and prospects exclusively. What team can make a giroux contract fit?
Nashville maybe? - Just5
He has a no trade, so you're limited. I think every team would express interest. How often does a center as good as Giroux become available at age 27?

Giroux has a NMC. There are a bunch of other guys I would trade first, starting with Simmonds since I think the gap between his value around the league and his value to a non-playoff team like the Flyers is the greatest. A contending team like Montreal should and probably would pay thru the nose for him. |

16 goals in 30 games pathetic
Voracek 0 goals in 16 games pathetic
non competitive listless hockey pathetic
inept management pathetic
a non qualified coach in over his head pathetic
no cups in 40 years pathetic
All that being said, the future is bright! 4 future Norris Trophy winners are on the way. Patience everyone. - PLindbergh31
Multiple pathetic things on this team right now...
First line winger with 0 goals
Other first line winger is being outscored by Ryan White, Umberger and VDV.
2 line center with 3 points total and a -4
Simmonds is a -11
What I am not worried about is the coming prospects...Every source says the Flyers are stacked there .. |

I just think there are much better options. They are likely going to have high picks the next couple of years. Use those on forwards and add more picks by trading secondary talent. |

One thing I noticed is that the entire team kept misplaying the puck. On the PP with Gagner as you mention, Giroux misplayed it and several times I saw the D misplay keep ins, lose the puck or generally fumble it. Of course there was Medvedev's mishandling play leading to the goal, but overall no one was catching the passes cleanly or playing the puck smoothly. Add up slight fumbles and open plays close or turnovers happen. It's just that the D is not very skilled and probably has no confidence as well. |

I don't advocate it. It's nice to filter in young players while there are elite talents on the team. Makes the transition that much easier. As much as Jake has struggled. He should have twice the points with all the bungled chances he's setup so far.
This team needs more lines providing real offensive pressure. Then watch yes 32 yoa Jake and g take off again.
All the secondary parts over age 25 can go in a firesale |

There're giving that 07 team a run for their money. I never expected much defensively, but the offense is abysmal. 4 straight PP and it still took them until the 3rd to crack 20 shots I believe? |

To trade Giroux you better get back some pretty solid players that will be here for the next decade and have the chance to be cornerstone types....How about Hextall doe's his F in job and gets some players to go with Giroux. The current crop doesn't appear to be working. "oh, it's so hard in the cap era" BS.....trades...Fine...Trading Giroux would put this team back 5 years and thank christ Snider won't allow that. |

I'd really like to know where that element of his game went. Coming late and filling holes for quality chances. It's non existent.

Everyone knows that Hextall was going to be patient, and this was going to take some time. He needs to be given a chance.
What do you think the time table is for this team to get back in the realm of a top team is now? |
