As per Ek:
I have heard that Lecavalier could be of interest to Patrick Roy if the Flyers were to retain a good amount of money.
If true, Roy is even dumber than I thought.

Jake is obviously a graduate of the School of Bull Durham cliches...
“Hockey is a collective sport, you win together, and you lose together. We didn’t play great defense and we didn’t score enough goals," said Jakub Voracek. |

There're giving that 07 team a run for their money. I never expected much defensively, but the offense is abysmal. 4 straight PP and it still took them until the 3rd to crack 20 shots I believe? - Pelle31Forever
Same thing but with better goaltending right? Forsberg, gagne and a pile of crap
G, Jake and a pile of crap
Wait to see how they look when G gets hurt! |

Soooo..... How about Ryan White?
I had to laugh when he was the ones the announcers honed in to talk about. Says volumes about the rest of the team.
Sigh. - FlyersGrace
Yup. When Chris Vandevelde, Ryan White and Scott Laughton are your 3 best players, you are in serious trouble.

I hate to say it, and I think it is temporary, but Voracek is in the pile of crap right now.

Could be done in what, a week or so? - MJL
no time like the present...I'm sure Hextall is just as angered by this current group as anyone...Gotta feel for Hakstol....he must think "these are professionals" ? He's caught between a rock and a hard place...how do you bench Vorecek from the PP ? how do you sit Mason because the other guy has flat out played better....How do you tell it's time to retire.?

I'd really like to know where that element of his game went. Coming late and filling holes for quality chances. It's non existent. - MJL
Hmm
Got his first good contract in a couple of years this past off season. Game then disappears. Could there be a correlation?

Everyone knows that Hextall was going to be patient, and this was going to take some time. He needs to be given a chance.
What do you think the time table is for this team to get back in the realm of a top team is now? - MJL[/quote]

If Hextall pawns Vinny off on anyone (after having gotten an asset for Zac Rinaldo), he's Executive of the Year. Shut down the voting. |

Is the time of the year when you feel the Flyers could maximize the return for the assets they have to trade?

I don't feel that way. I think it's the opposite. He's a perimeter player, and the majority of his plays and shots are low percentage. He's not getting into the dangerous areas nearly enough, and he's not making good decisions with the puck. That's why he's not producing.

I would not retain salary to trade Lecavalier.

They have a lot more than just 6 good players. Heck, they have two good goalies alone. - MJL
Giroux, Voracek, and Mason are all borderline what could be considered elite players. That's 3. Neuvirth is playing outstanding hockey right now, but will he sustain it? Saying he does, that's four. DelZotto is a good defenseman. Couturier is a good defensive center. Simmonds is a good power forward. That's seven, due to not including Neuvirth in my original count...the rest are average at best. |

should have atleast challenged for a playoff spot this year....and had Couturier and Schenn progressed along with a 16 million combo on the first line I would say next year this team could really do damage and by year 3 who knows...depends on the arrival of the young D core thats on the horizan...Im fine with losing games where there's effort...for the last year there's been to many night where guys just don't work hard enough.

The guys that are making under a mil (Gudas, White, Laughton, Vandevelde) are outplaying all of the guys getting paid big bucks. |

I'm just wondering if there is something strategy wise that is holding that back. Even if you have a good offensive team, you still need the defense activated, and involved in the play to score in today's game. He has a real ability to do that. It seems like he is playing a defensive stay at home style.

There's a difference between being able to play in the NHL, and being the top players on a team that form the nucleus and carry the team. The young players such as the defenseman, are probably 3-5 years from getting to that level. This is not going to be an overnight process. This team is likely to stagnate, or get even worse for a season or two, before it starts to climb. |

He's playing afraid to fail, and he's failing because of it. He's holding the puck too long because he's afraid to have his pass intercepted, he's staying away from traffic because he doesn't want to cough up the puck, he's taking "safer" shots because he doesn't want them blocked. It's ugly. |
