In no way am I trying to troll here, but Flyers fans, are you guys in favor of trading Giroux/Voracek and going full rebuild? I an article from a Philly newspaper talking about the pros of it and was wondering what the Flyer's fans opinions on the matter are? - j.boyd919

The article was saying that with all of the bad contracts on the roster, and the amount of time its going to take for the prospects to develop that G would be well into his 30s before they were competitive again, so why not trade him and Jake and get a solid return to start building the foundation (and inevitably end up with a higher draft position.) rather than keep the talent that Giroux and Voracek have wasting away. It wasn't a bad article by any means, I was just curious to what the rest of Philly thought. |

seems like the writing is on the wall to do this or trade some of the d-prospects for good nhl d-men.
being passive with this roster seems like the worst thing to do. |

the avs wouldn't be limited by a NTC like the leafs were, plus duchene is younger and on a better contract. demand will be high if there is any truth to this (which i doubt).
i can't imagine the leafs flipping kapanen, harrigton and pitt's 1st to col for duchene.
nylander, the leafs 1st and Harrington probably gets the conversation started. - Tumbleweed

I am not so much shocked by how bad the Flyers are this season, I am shocked by the lack of compete, the fall off of certain players performance and the way in which the organization appears to be reacting to the entire mess.
Hextall is either doing a slow tank and will empty the tank as much as possible at the deadline, or he is going to start doing the long game tank and start shipping out players now for returns that have no impact on this season.
And people....they are called rumors, this is a rumor sight. Ek is repeating what he has heard, surmised from what he has heard, and what he has observed. I have heard similar things about the internal atmosphere of the Flyers being completely different this season from other people who are not Ek, it is a fact. It is not Business as usual. |

A lot of the journalists in the Philly area appear to be a mouthpiece for the team. It wouldn't be the first time that the fan base is prepared for some shocking news by a "what if" type of article in a Philly paper a day or two before. It struck me as very strange that the article about trading Giroux came out yesterday. I wouldn't be at all shocked if something related to Giroux is happening - then again, nothing may happen. |

Different in which way?
Apart from hiring a NONE NHL coach and big contracts to 14 and 93 there isn't much of a difference compared to last year. The problems are still the same

It's tough to say if we even would get full value for the two. They both have big contracts for lengthy years. JV kicks in next year. And so many teams are tied up salary cap wise. Surely it could be done but who knows if the value back would be worth it for the now and for the future. |

It was a stupid article meant for clicks. There is nothing the philly media loves more than to create controversy around their team's best players. |

Different off ice. The play of Jake and Cooter aside, and Cooter is not the issue, possibly a symptom.
The tone in the Flyers offices (ticket sales, group sales, through the hockey operations) is just different. I have an opinion as to why, but it has nothing to do with the on ice product. The way in which Hextall is managing the team and assets is either a symptom of this difference, or part of a larger issue.

Duschene for Lecavalier. Flyers retain $250,000. - woopstash
There you go......Sakic better be careful or Hextall might pull that deal off the table before the end of this decade |

As we approach the 20 game mark I have to say that the Philadelphia Flyers appear to me to be the worst team in the NHL and really are going nowhere except down and out. I am a diehard Flyers fan and their style of hockey right now has to be at an all time low. No defence, no offence, no deals to shake things up, no way to get rid of Lecavalier, Umberger, MacDonald or Luke Schenn. Vandevelde and Manning are minor leaguers, Read and Couturier are going downhill instead of getting better. Voracek is lost in space along with Haskol and Hextall is partly to blame, trading Hartnell for starters is like trading Heart. The flyers do not have any heart. My rant for the day, thank god our goaltenders can play, at least. |

Because when Hextall says "we should be better" he's bull$hitting us.
You don't trade Hartnell, and Coburn, for Umberger, & Gudas, and wonder why we're not better.
He wants to rebuild, that's it. |

This will never happen but I am sure both 93 and 28 would love to get out of Philly. You can see the frustration, watched Giroux snap his stick in half at the bench last game, similar to his golf club smashing a couple years ago, or to his ass grabbing of a cop in Ottawa, there is so much wrong with this team right now I am just sick.

He better do something soon or the fan base is going to start getting pretty angry. The team is so badly outplayed game in and game out, this is the nhl and take away half a dozen key players and you have essentially an AHL team. The top prospects will never develop in this atmosphere. |

If he was rebuilding he should have got picks and not culls. Umberger is washed up and injury prone, Gudas hits like a tank which is nice but uses a hockey stick like it is a club caveman style, lol. When Streit is you best dman it tells you the state of your defence. Nothing against Streit I love the guy, excellent on the pp but really a #3-4 dman on a good team. His signing has been a good one really when at the time there were a lot of doubters. Great signin when you consider Vinny, MacDonald and the dumb Hartnell trade. |
