Not sure if I was there that night, or if it was just after he did it, but I know as a kid I was at a game at the Aud where they gave out pennants (kids these days would scoff at them!) with 500 on them (I think the zeroes were pucks).

Just found this:

"Perreault became only the 12th player in NHL history to score 500 goals, and is currently one of 41 players in the League to have done so."

Edit: just watched the clip - they're in white, so I guess he did it at home. Wonder if I was there. :D

I was and yes he did it at home.

The Muslim religion is a very peaceful one. It's these extremist groups that make it out to be a bad name. I have a huge problem with these so called "religious" groups using religion as a front for their sadistic agendas.

It is time for the world to unite against these radical armies without countries trying to scare the citizens of the free world. Will it happen? No but damn it I've had enough. The French were one of the first countries to stand by the United States after 9/11.

Well said, stripes. People need to remember many different religeons have killed hundreds of thousands in the name of their god. We should probably just eliminate that way of thinking across the board.

I blame all Muslims...they have collectively claimed their religion is one of peace, but they have not denounced the radical Muslims...cause me to seriously wonder why and therefore question the validity / candor of their claims.

- IonSabres

Except they have repeatedly. Groups like isis have consistently targeted practicing muslims who don't share the same views that they do.

I have never understood the extremist that take their religion as the only people who should be alive.

I was raised Catholic and I know the history of their intolerance. However that doesn't mean I was taught to hate people of other religions.

I (frank)ing give up on humanity.

I'm so over the preaching tolerance crap. It's either accept people's differences or if you can't guess what there's nothing you can do about it so don't let it bother you.

Almost every issue of extremists have to do with a group of people being offended of how someone or a group of people live their lives. Like what the (frank) does it have to do with you and your life? Get the (frank) over it if you can't handle it you're the problem.

I learned early in my life. Both of my parents were raised catholic. Went to catholic school. They said the nuns that taught them in the 50's had to be the wikedest people they ever met. They refused to raise my sister and i in any traditional church setting. I respect peoples beliefs if they keep them private. Religion has been shedding blood for thousands of years. Its time for it to stop. Weather its radical muslims or christians killing abortion doctors. It just literally makes no sense to take a life in the name of religion. I just want to talk hockey and drink a few beers.

Russians didn't play a physical style back then but what I found watching this game is they played a little dirty with their sticks.

And Korab and Guevermont

In 2014 Norway deported all radical muslims and their whole families and their crime rate went down 31%. Poland will only take in Christian refugees.

just looked and saw rochester got thumped 7-1

question, if anyone knows the answer

if Eichel got hurt, and missed a little bit of time, could he be sent down to rochester for conditioning like normal nhl players?

It isn't too much gray area. They already add an "air element" for deciding when a defensive team has cleared the puck.

I also suspect that if - on a lifted shot - a puck completely crosses the goal line into the goal before the goalie gloves it, the rules deem that a goal, right?

- Der Kaiser

I bet you if you go back and look at guys clearing the puck down the ice a good chunk would've shot the puck before actually reaching the red line. The letter of the law is they have to be over the red line, or it's icing, so why is it ok to be "close enough" in that instance, but not for an offside? So can we also review icing to get a face-off in the offensive zone and trap the other team on the ice?

Yes, he never played in the CHL. Same reason Girgensons was allowed to play in Rochester when he did. But "conditioning" doesn't work like baseball, they still have to clear waivers, if applicable.

MHP - I am late to this discussion but I totally agree. You and I are in the same age bracket (old) and Perreault was "the man". My favourite player of all time - full stop. He is the reason I have been a Sabres fan my entire life. In my humble opinion, during Perreault's peak year's, only Bobby Orr was better. Both were incredibly exciting and could change the momentum to a game with an end-to-end rush - something you rarely see today.

I also agree that the Dominator is right up there. Nobody dominated his position like him during his Sabres years.

This.

I started playing amateur hockey in 1970 and went through from squirt to junior locally and frankly if the Knox family didn't get the team, who knows of my level of interest in the sport. But when Perreault showed up, I was hooked. In the 70's this town was all #11 or OJ Simpson for the sports fix. I'm thankful that I got to watch the french connection on a nightly basis and for a team to get to the cup finals after only 5 years as a franchise was very exciting. Great memories for me.

I was at the Sabres vs CSKA Moscow game on Jan 3, 1980 at the Aud. It was a few days after the Soviets invaded Afghanistan and everyone hated/didn't trust the red commie buggers. Incredible tension in the arena that night. Sabres won 6 - 1. Probably the most intense sporting event I have ever attended.
- SabreWest

I don't think the Sabres ever lost to a Russian team.

Not true. You can send guys there on a "conditioning stint" but it's restricted to so many days. It's a very short time period, so if they're going to do it, timing is everything.

EDIT:

Conditioning Loans

A player can be sent to the AHL on a conditioning loan with his consent without having to clear waivers. He can't spend more than 14 days on this conditioning loan though. He'll continue counting against the team's roster and cap limits. He can also be sent on a long term injury/illness exception where he won't count against the roster limit, but he can't be sent on one until he's been hurt for 14 days/6 games. The long-term loan can only last six days or three games, although a team can request an extension to be approved by the commissioner.

All very well. A bunch of leaders of independent organizations have called for persecutors to be brought forward. On a scale of 1 a 10, it is maybe a 0.5

A complete denunciation is required where ALL these groups UNITE to formally denounce it in unison and take COLLECTIVE ACTION to rid these groups from existence with cooperation from the free world governments. On a scale of 1 - 10 this would be a solid 10.

So where is the "5" denunciation I ask? Again, makes me question the sincerity of their rather weak, pathetic claims.

To date their action has reminded me of the Sabres response when Miller was trucked by Lucic.
Kinda like Myers swing his purse at Marchant.
