Better than Clarke, Ratelle, Trottier, Shutt., Unger, Sittler and Redmond. Lafleur, Espo and Dionne were better. - mhp
was just reading about perreault in the 72 summit series and the 76 canada cup against the russians. the only canadians who could keep up with the russians were perreault, hull, and lafleur.
It was a different nhl. You would have multiple 50 goal scorers every year. Not taking away from any accomplishments. Those are awesome numbers. Too bad we didnt win a cup with him.

I went to that game at the aud against the Russians. They played fantastic, beat them 12-6 I think. This town went crazy!

Goalie equipment was a third of the size it is today.

Yeah cool seeing a 7-4 game. - joshs
I'll say this. With smaller goalie equipment back in the 70's, the goalies were better than the goalies of today. Parent, Dryden, Plante, Vachon, Crozier were acrobats in net.
Not true. If that were the case, when the lease for The Ralph needed to be negotiated, Wilson wouldn't have had it done the way it was. His intention was always for the team to stay here. They were just really, really inept for a while. - HonkFortheGoose
I know that. My point is, looking back, Ralph's heart wasn't in it. The Toronto deal, having Craig Nall and Gibran Hamden as your QB's. They weren't even trying. It was like tanking without ever intending to get your Jack Eichel.

I guess they couldn't see the logo's either - SABRES 89
Both white helmets. Deadspin has an article up, with a video showing what it looked like for colorblind people, it's pretty much impossible to tell the difference.
