No they aren't, Avs actual beat writers from the Denver Post and Sakic himself came out and said they are not shopping him.
The only reason that rumour started, is from the fired beat writer Dater. who now has deleted those tweets that started the whole thing. Not even the TSN guys are willing to go out on their own and say thats what they are heading too, they keep on saying, according to Dater. If the guy was an actual journalist, he would stick by his worlds, but he a terrible hockey writer who has a history of reporting opinion as fact

Where there's smoke, there's fire. Sakic obviously wouldn't want to publicly admit that he's taking calls on a player, what would that relationship be like if a deal doesn't get done?
Aves want a top 4 D, but (obviously) Karlsson is off the table. Duchene isn't living up to his $6 mill price tag perhaps?

Senators talking to Avs about Duchene

"In talking to people around the League, his name is out there,"
LeBrun said earlier on TSN.
"Will they trade Duchene for sure? No, it's not 'for sure.' But they are calling teams about him, teams are calling them about him. There's something there."
Dreger added that Sakic reached out to the Senators "about 10 days ago."
"The Senators are intrigued," Dreger said. "But the fit might not be there."
According to
TSN's Bob McKenzie, the Senators have defensemen available for trade, excluding Erik Karlsson and possibly Marc Methot, but they would want a team to take back forward Colin Greening as part of a trade.
