@bcphockeyblog: What's your favourite goal the Leafs have allowed from center ice? We take your calls in the ten o'clock hour...

Leafs are playing well. Good speed through the neutral zone. Phaneuf is playing a really solid game. I feel sorry for Bernier, but he has to be responsible for his own crap.

He gets paid to play hockey, if he's letting outside issues such as these effect his game he needs to re-evaluate if he wants to play hockey.

this is unfair

everyone on the planet has had personal issues that effected their work

he is a human afterall.

As a former goalie and goalie coach it's easy to see when a guy is fighting it mentally, and Bernier certainly is fighting it big time. If he was a baseball player he would be in an 0 for 38 slump right now .

In practice he would make those saves and control those rebounds 100% of the time. Not 99, not 99.9, but 100%.

Unfortunately for him as Babcock says he has to gain his own confidence and believe in himself. Tough league to do that but he will either figure it out or end up in the same league as Andrew Raycroft, Vesa Toskala and Justin Pogge.

I read that someone posted that he needs a sports shrink.

I can't believe he wasn't designated for assignment after that. That was gross.

I wonder if the home sitch is getting to him: I distinctly remember when his kid was born and him commenting on not getting much sleep; now with the Wives thing, maybe it's affecting his game.

Maybe but if you get to make $4 Million a year then you don't get any mulligans, as he said it's his job to be ready

I watched the game Saturday night, team had some defensive lapses, a weak goal called back, but overall I thought the team and Reimer played great.

Then I watched the highlights from last night.

My gawd.

Bernier has officially played himself into the backup role...horrible. No excuse for that shot from the red line.

Reims has finally earned the number 1...go with him until things change.

Yes cause our personal lives never bleed into other aspects of our lives
Just a dumb comment.

But last night looked horrible, my gawd the center ice goal CANNOT go in.

He said he lost it for a second. Ever hear baseball players say they are not seeing the ball? Same thing, the puck looks small to him right now and is coming in faster than he expects.

I do think he will get it back and the puck will look more like a frisbee than a bottle cap. The Leafs should have sent him to the Marlies on a conditioning stint like they did with Corrado.

Lots of guys have the physical tools to be pro atheletes who are currently employed working in offices, laying bricks or other gainful employment. They never figured out the mental part or didn't have the drive or determination.

As the late Yogi Berra said, "half this game is 90% mental"

No different than anyone else on the planet. Joe 9 to 5 with kids can't say my work is suffering becuase I just had a kid.

He's being paid millions to do a job, if the tv is interfering with that then there is a problem.

Not unfair in the least.

But I dont think he is referring to just the kid thing....didnt they have a kid last year?
He should be over that by now.

He's just not playing well.

Right cause if you process payroll for a living and you (frank)ed up bad and you're employer asked why you made such a huge mistake that our 200 employees didn't get paid and your answer is "I'm tired cause we just had a kid" or "my wife/husband/bf/gf is on a tv show and it's affecting me" they'd be ok with it. Guaranteed 100% not.

There isn't an employer on this planet that would accept "I (frank)ed up becuase I'm tired".

The original poster mentioned the new baby and also the tv show.

(I know this is redundant ... but I simply have to ask "which one")

Thank you Mike in Buffalo for being the first of the "reporters" to label the performance of the goaltender for what is was.

And thank you Mr Babcock for doing the right thing and stating emphatically that you are going back to the goalie who deserves to start - and that Bernier can fix his confidence issues in the same way Reimer managed to... by playing well.

We'll have to see if in fact Bernier has that ability.

I know I know Bernier has the better stats!

When did Bernier give birth? Was that was the cause of his lower body injury?
