this is unfair

everyone on the planet has had personal issues that effected their work

he is a human afterall.

- Dozzer

agreed - that personal issues can effect your work.

I'm not entirely sure if you forgot the sarcasm indicator on your comment or not... but for example a bus driver makes an error and has an accident and injures someone, says he's tired or overtired - it doesn't change that fact that he's culpable for the accident. At some companies the bus line would lay off or suspend the resource... it wouldn't go unnoticed.

If Bernier had a lower body injury because his wife gave birth... well diagnose the injury, rehab it and get over it. Then get back in the line-up when your a 100% - don't come back with a built in excuse and say you 95% ... what the heck is that supposed to mean.

And quite frankly at $4M dollars plus he can pay for several nannies, pay for his in-laws to move in, pay for the modeling company's photographer to come at a time that is convenient.

Stop with the excuses.

(I know this is redundant ... but I simply have to ask "which one")

Thank you Mike in Buffalo for being the first of the "reporters" to label the performance of the goaltender for what is was.

And thank you Mr Babcock for doing the right thing and stating emphatically that you are going back to the goalie who deserves to start - and that Bernier can fix his confidence issues in the same way Reimer managed to... by playing well.

We'll have to see if in fact Bernier has that ability.

I know I know Bernier has the better stats!

Bernier's night was summed up by the pass he made to the right side of the net even though the dman was going left, then he raised his hands at the dman like "wtf".

A hat-trick of garbage goals.

Right cause if you process payroll for a living and you (frank)ed up bad and you're employer asked why you made such a huge mistake that our 200 employees didn't get paid and your answer is "I'm tired cause we just had a kid" or "my wife/husband/bf/gf is on a tv show and it's affecting me" they'd be ok with it. Guaranteed 100% not.
- burn

They wouldnt be happy. But it happens. In every walk of life.
Im not just referring to the kid thing either....I said sometimes things in your personal life bleed into work once in a blue moon....happens everywhere.

Not saying this is the case for Bernier....he's just playing like crap.

seriously - if the guys confidence is that shattered he sure does a good job of keeping up the arrogant exterior.

due the "right thing" by the club/team and take a conditioning stint to the Marlies.

the guy comes back of the "disabled list" and says "you know I'm not 100%"... what the h___ does that mean?....

There isn't an employer on this planet that would accept "I (frank)ed up becuase I'm tired".

The original poster mentioned the new baby and also the tv show.

- burn

No one said they would accept it....just that it happens. Also, because of HR, unions, not a huge repercussion like a dismissal in most companies would occur unless it broke the companies code of ethics.

No one making excuses, in fact no one knows if any personal issue are the reason for him playing like crap. I believe Dozzer simply stated that if that were the case, he isnt a robot and it could affect him. Never said it was an acceptable excuse.

Also comparing a bus driver falling asleep and injuring someone.....not at all a relevant comparison.

Anyway, I dont expect Bernier back in the net anytime soon, which is fine...like Ive been saying...go with the goalie that gives you the better chance to win...right now its Reimer.

no - even worse. he said when he was reactivated.

so why was he reactivated? or he's lying about not being 100%?

there's no in between - he was simply preparing his excuses - pathetic.

and then that display of complete INCOMPETENCE in New York.

no one better be making excuses for him. none.

and the spousally challenged in the audience better be cutting Reimer the same kind of slack they been giving Bernier since the slide started in the previous two seasons... .man I'm tired of it.

Management made a really bad judgement in giving him a two year deal. This should have been at max a 1 year deal - for what it is a "show me contract".

He's crapped the bed on this one.. no question. Babcock seemed pretty direct in his response last night. "Yup we're going with that crappy #2 unreliable goalie who likes to swim"...

because he gives them a chance to win most nights.

That rebound was bad, but who was the defenseman that let Zucc skate right by him? He shouldn't escape blame on that goal either. Looked like he was channeling Yandles play on the Lupul goal.

That irks me. A lot.

Almost every pro athlete on a team sport will NEVER lay blame at others' feet when they have a bad performance. Unless of course, they are an asshat.

Is it really going to affect the Leafs next season?

They'll probably have a few ELCs up in the lineup, with plenty of bonus cushion... and unless you think they're signing Stamkos AND another big free agent, it's not going to hold them back in that regard either.

Agreed. I'm ok with a "prove it" contract being 1-2 years at this point because next year the Leafs will likely be in pretttty much the exact same position.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the CAP hit.. .its the commitment to the player.

They have directly told Bernier we chose you at $4M for two years. We value you more than....

fill in the blanks yourself.

that's the main reason for me saying the contract was BAD... now they are stuck to save the sieve's career - because they committed to the investment.
