FYI bernier last 40 games 7 wins and gaa and s% are bottom of the barrel.
It's not a bad start to this year. - burn
Burn, don't try and bring facts into a debate about Bernier.
They have no place here. |

yup - I'm raging.
I'm raging at about 1/2 a fan base who for some reason feel it necessary to make excuses for a guy - to the point where it is beyond any logic - and willing throw someone else under the bus at the same time.
You are absolutely correct - Bernier's career isn't over. The question is whether it should be for all intents and purposes.
The only thing that's preventing him from being written off is that fact that he has a big contract - and that the Leafs wasted a pick and a couple of players to get him.
and to be clear - I'm not "raging" at Bernier.
I'm "raging" at the "spousally challenged". - BorjeFan4Ever
No, his contract isnt the only reason.....9 games or whatever he's played this year wont ruin his whole career.....unless those 9 games get stretched out the rest of the year.
We've seen Reimer and other goalies play like crap for long stretches in the past.....they are still around. They rebounded, will Bernier? we'll see.
Bernier has the skill, what I question is his heart and fight.
I still dont see anyone (let alone half the fan base) making excuses for him, I dont believe Dozzer was making an excuse thing, when he brought up the personal life stuff, I could be wrong, ask him.
I do see the Bernier haters, hating big time as per usual |

No different than anyone else on the planet. Joe 9 to 5 with kids can't say my work is suffering becuase I just had a kid.
He's being paid millions to do a job, if the tv is interfering with that then there is a problem.

Yes and precisely 1 win in his last 18 starts dating back to last year.
He needs to play against my beer league old timers team to get his confidence back. We can't score on fat guys who can't get up when they go down to make a save. |

Yes, and that includes playing half a season for a team that quit.
What are Reims and Bernier's stats from January 2015 to May 2015?
I bet they are both crap....why because of the sh!tshow that was last season.

Bernier sucks this year and Reimer has been great. The both sucked last year. Reimer wants the number one job, and right now it's his to lose. What more is there to discuss on this?

Do you remember anything that happened around christmas time last year?
Reimer had 3 wins in the second half of last season in 15 starts
Bernier had 6 wins in 29.
Nearly identical in that regard. |

Not directed at you Gluck per se, but who cares about last year? It's a new season, new chances for each Leaf to prove himself. |

Because he outperformed him 2 years straight, after winning the starting job from him in their first year together? - Feeling Glucky?
Bernier's first year here he won the starting job.
Last year, they both sucked.
This year, Reimer has won the job back.
Nothing more to say. End of story, lets talk about Byron Froese! |

Just a quick question (for clarity).
Why use 40 games as a sample size? Why not 50? or 60? Or 30? |

well, the conversation moved over to why management gave Berny a contract. That's why.

there isn't really... but you must realize that a good segment of the members herein will argue that Bernier should be the #1 when Reimer has one bad game.
and that lil Jonny deserves another chance... and that his mom should give a gold star for trying really really hard.
yup... that's the way it will go.
and oh yah... I forgot doesn't Reimer look awkward when his swims? you know - important junk like that. |

Pretty fantastic, from someone who thinks a 2 year sample size is cherry picking. |

They gave him a contract because they believed his .923 first leaf season was a sign of what he could do. It was only a bridge contract anyways. One can ask similarly why they kept bringing reimer back as a backup. Me thinks management still wasn't sure what they had with either, and because they're still like 28 and under, they were willing to wait and see. |
