Pretty fantastic, from someone who thinks a 2 year sample size is cherry picking.

I'M just curious as to where that number comes from... is it something that was said on Sportsnet last night or whatever?

They gave him a contract because they believe his .923 first leaf season was a sign of what he could do. It was only a bridge contract anyways. One can ask similarly why they kept bringing reimer back as a backup. Me thinks management still wasn't sure what they had with either, and because they're still like 28 and under, they were willing to wait and see.

Burn, don't try and bring facts into a debate about Bernier.

They have no place here.

- BorjeFan4Ever

2014/2015 stats

Reimer: .907 and 3.16 GAA
Bernier .912 and 2.87 GAA'

From Jan to April, they pretty much alternated months on who played better.
Jan: Reimer .916 and 2.62 Bernier .896 and 2.90
Feb: Bernier .915 and 2.74 Reimer .898 and 2.96
March Reimer .904 and 3.14 Bernier .899 and 3.66
April Bernier .918 and 2.67 Reimer 9.29 and 3.39 - this month they spilt the stats.

Jan to April, Reimer had 3 wins and 10 losse....Bernier had 6 wins and 20 losses.

both goalies play crappy from Jan to April last year. Only this year, Reimer has finally played better.

So no, Burn once again, didnt bring all the facts.

Just a quick question (for clarity).

Why use 40 games as a sample size? Why not 50? or 60? Or 30?

Tyler Bozak...9 points in 14 gp......knew he didn't need Phil to be a 40 point player

Crossing my fingers he doesn't get hurt....I needs that $50!

- mykokes

What a bad pass on that goal even worse was his hesitation to get back after he made it...if he heads back right away..he might even get a stick in to break up that goal.

I think Hunwick has had better games too, didn't seem to get anything going and pinched on that Bozak bad pass when the other 2 wingers were already headed for the net amongst other bad shifts last nigh.

Because he outperformed him 2 years straight, after winning the starting job from him in their first year together?
- Feeling Glucky?

well I guess we have a different view of how to handle contracts then....

ASSume we're GMs....

i) if I'm looking at an RFA who's got a spotty record ... I don't reward him for only the portion of his record that is good , nor do I knock for the part that is bad
ii) if I think he should be in a "show me" situations (like Kadri) - then one year max

based on the above.. I don't give this hypothetical player a increase in pay for two years.

I'm not sure, to be honest. But it goes back to about the time Horachek took over and the team completely fell apart.

Bernier sucks this year and Reimer has been great. The both sucked last year. Reimer wants the number one job, and right now it's his to lose. What more is there to discuss on this?
- mykokes

Bingo.

However, both only sucked from Jan to then end of the year last year. Bernier played well until January. Reimer played ok as well, but had a horrible november. 4 starts.

Just like the "fact" that Reimer was as good as Bernier in the first half of 2013/14.

Price has been practically invisible in the last 7 or so Montreal games. We will take him off your hands if you throw in a 3rd.

NHL has guaranteed contracts. There's not much they can do other than try and work through it, or do what Carlyle did with Reimer, and just not start him for a whole month.

How'd that work out?

It's a pretty big contract.

They'll need to take Robidas and Berny off our hands.

I'm a also guilty of using that type of "media generated number". They make for good effect, but sometimes, they're just a way to make a post more "spectacular".

Kind like "player X is amazing value, he had 13pts in his last 13 games!".... but if you dig, you realize the guy had 13 pts in 35 games... which is far less stellar
