I know for a fact it's happened, seen it play out more than once.

to say a person's personal life should not effect their work is simply incorrect..

perhaps you are over generalizing here but its common knowledge that a poor home life, or stress at home, most likely will effect a person's work.

now.. bear in mind i am not saying this is the case with bernier.

Price has been practically invisible in the last 7 or so Montreal games. We will take him off your hands if you throw in a 3rd.

Price had a rough 2 year start...they should have traded him long ago

i think the difference this year with Reimer is he's playing with more confidence and likely had 0 with Randy Carlyle and Dave Nonis as they were the ones that basically tossed him under the bus after the game 7 meltdown, picked up Bernier and slotted him as the #1 without him playing 1 game as a Leaf.

yet another reason why Randy was as horrible a coach as Nonis was a GM.

morning fellas

well... as burn pointed out they basically split starts in the first half of that year... but Reimer trended downwards bigtime.

Bernier trade was a mistake, though. You should have a clear cut 1st and backup, to keep the controversy from becoming a distraction.

Just like the "fact" that Reimer was as good as Bernier in the first half of 2013/14.
- Feeling Glucky?

but thats not fact either. Bernier had better stats Nov and Dec.
Both goalies have been average, up until this year Bernier played better....this season its been all Reimer...good for him.

Yeah, but...

Faulk -8
Liles -9
Hainsey -12

Our only defenseman with a Positive +/- got ran from behind by Ryan White last game and has a concussion.

Most havent. But the Bernier haters come out in full force.

As the leafs have done the past several years, go with the goalie that is playing better.
Reimer is hot right now....keep him in the net. Bernier has been bad....keep him on the bench.

regardless of split starts or not, as a goalie you have 2 things.

confidence
or no confidence.

simple as that...reimer lost his after the organization basically blamed the loss on him.

with a new coach, gm and chance it seems reimer is playing well enough for them to consider keeping him around for a backup, bernier...he's worth about a dozen eggs right now.

I really think a conditioning stint would be good for him. 2 weeks vs easier competition, behind a hot team. If confidence is the issue, that should do the trick.

yeah let the haters hate, neither goalie is the one that's going to take us to the promise land (in my opinion).

after last night's debacle bernier is now toskala 2.0

god that was painful to watch.

I'm a also guilty of using that type of "media generated number". They make for good effect, but sometimes, they're just a way to make a post more "spectacular".

Kind like "player X is amazing value, he had 13pts in his last 13 games!".... but if you dig, you realize the guy had 13 pts in 35 games... which is far less stellar

Yup. was pretty clear from the start of the season that Babcock was giving them both a chance at winning the spot... a bad game meant the other came in. Bernier's injury gave Reimer a few games to run with, and he took full advantage... while Bernier just can't keep his focus.

If confidence is the issue, it could.
Could just be mental...who knows.

either way....play the hot tender....I prefer wins to losses.
