If Barrie is for sale, pens don't have the pieces to compete unless someone big is going back in a mega deal. |

For sure....just throwing it out there as I dont know COL's needs all that well. - YouMeAndDupuis9
still need D, but at this point, doesn't seem like they are going after any big name, Top4 guys that they are going to create a road block in the line up since they are really high on Bigras and Zads as their future.
Thats why the signed Beauchemin to a 3 year deal....they didn't want to go past 3 years in UFA, they wanted Martin but didn't want to go 4 year and were after Sekera but weren't prepared to go 6 years with him.

The Penguin forwards look like crap in the offensive zone.
I can't tell you how many times I watched forwards standing around...flat footed.
Watch the teams we play against...in constant motion.
The Pens are a lazy...unmotivated...soft...team. |

Watch the game on right now between TOR and NYR. When the teams pass the puck it actually goes to one of their team mates. It's amazing how efficient that is. |

I said it before and I know you all poo pooed it. But Jared Spurgeon of the wild might be available for trade. He would be hard to re-sign but they'd have to trade someone with a big contract to get him anyways. He also is a good puck moving d-man. |

No with ROR they always said they both want to make it work but they know its a business. They were saying all the generic things to the media but it always seems like ROR just wanted to get to UFA since he wanted to be a 1C on a team, and he would never be that with the Avs.
The point about Sakic having to come out and say that is bc one terrible ex-beater writer tossed out a bunch of trade rumours in a late night twitter rant, and somehow it became a hot story. This is the same guy who used to publish reports saying Stsatny is being shopped after favouriting tweeted from twitter rumour guys like HockeyyInsidder. As soon as Dater is the source of any trade talk, there is 0 credibility to it - DDM-Coga
Didn't the same thing happen when Statsny left? All the talk was going to keep him didn't want him to leave then bam gorn? Not having a go just commenting, it seems every year lately there is a big star that ends up leaving after all the talk was about keeping him? So which one is it this year?? |

They tried to keep Staz, they offered him a 4 year 6.6m deal, or as reported, but he went with the 7m option to go to the Blues. Cant really fault him for taking that, and can't fault the Avs for not going over 7m to keep him.
Its just one of those things...Losing stastny for nothing sucks, getting a good package for ROR helps, but both those moves are about MacKinnon. The kid is a legit star, and if they are going to be spending any 7m+ mega deals on anyone its him. |

Go back to my comment last blog, my theory on life is the D needs to score. Our D is invisible on the score sheet, look at any team that is winning & you will see Dmen scoring - ours aren't. They need yo be regular scorers putting up points if this team is going anywhere! Don't worry about Sid, the system & the coach - get our D in the points & all will work itself out. |

From all appropriate legit accounts, no one is on the block, just fired beat writer stirring the pot right now. Thats why all the TSN guys will never say they are hearing the chatter too, just According to Dater this happened or that happened
However Avs are not subtle with their moves, and when they do happen, they are big and without warning. The EJ and Varly trades are examples of that |

Hopefully not. Johnston's already neutered enough elite offensive talent. |

I took a break from this board for awhile because the doom and gloom dummies get on my nerves and I can't tell all of them off its just tedious. But here's an idea, WBS was down 5-1 in the first period and came back and won their 11th game in a row. How hard is it to study the tapes and find out why they are 11-1 this season and then reward them with big club time. If it's Sullivan, which I think it is, move him up to the big club because they are doing something right in WBS. It's not like that team is loaded with future NHL stars aside from Pouliot and Murray. Wilson is playing incredible hockey right now, get him up and send Plotnikov down. Pouliot is playing outstanding hockey get him up here and waive Scudz. The in house solutions first before you go trading Pouliot and Sprong(which is way too much btw, whoever said that is a terrible GM). Or just continue the flow of menstration that you always do in the same order. Repeat repeat b!tch b!tch |

Awesome we will take Shane Gostisbehere for a third and a fifth. And Neal Patrick Harris was wondering what it would take for him to have Claudia Giroux? |

AV's have over $8mil in cap space and Tanguay off the books next year. How can they not afford to sign this guy? AV's are quietly assembling some good talent, if they can get it together they will be a solid team. Mac is a top talent, he reminds me of Crosby 7-8 years ago.

I think the only need for Pittsburgh is to get a coach. Forget doing any other tinkering around. Pittsburgh is a need to win now.
Step 1 - Get a new coach
Step 2 - Give the new coach 20 Games to see if he can get team on the right track
Step 3 - If things works out then wait till trade deadline and go all in and do whatever you got to do to make your playoff run. However if things don't go good with new coach well then it's time to do some major house cleaning whether it's trading all your top guns or some of them , Pittsburgh needs to restock their prospects and farm system and those top guns will get you lots ... This team cannot keep going on like this they need to figure out and either they go for it or they start all over and rebuild or at least bring in some good young guns |

Hey.... It is late, don't go taking advantage of my spelling
I am sure if NPH wanted Giroux he'd just have to get a some drinks in him. A few got him to grab a cops ass, imagine what more could do |

Don't they play the same system as MJ's? If so a few video sessions watching the baby Pens might help the big boys!! Can't imagine the defensive system would be the same unless the AHL opposition attack is terrible?? What are the shot totals against the baby Pens like? So many questions.................. |

Thanks for your input, I know you come on here occasionally, but this was an informative session on the Avs.
The blogger is correct in that our biggest bargaining chip is Patric Hornqvist but he has a limited NTC. One big problem I see with the Pens is that we do not have enough guys who are unafraid to go to the front of the net and get ugly tip ins or deflections. Hornqvist is our best, Chris Kunitz has the desire but he is not nearly as good. That's it, everyone else plays a perimeter game. We should be targeting more guys like Hornqvist and not trying to get rid of him. |
