Mason taking a maintnece day? Say if Flyers continue season like this and get a top 5 pick. Big IF. But outside of Matthews going #1, who's a winger that flyers would draft - arichardson22
Neuvirth is a pretty good backup if Mason isn't ready to start. |

Well sir, not because I'm picking on you but if this is the logic, why doesn't Wayne Simmonds it? Simmonds is without question favourite guy but he's brought very little. In a situation you just suggested, Gagner has got to sit.
Also, while I respect and understand this logic, it doesn't mean Raffl should be attached to the hip to G and Jake. It's not that good. - SuperSchennBros
Simmonds has been the team's leading goal scorer for 3 years running and is a consistent physical presence. When Schenn is off his game, he's been an empty uniform. Simmonds gets more rope, he would with just about every coach.
Raffl is now on the 4th line, at least if the lines used today stick, with Schenn on the top line. |

Matthews himself is a center. But there's a number of wingers projected top 10. Jesse Puljujarvi, Matthew Tkachuk, Patrick Laine, Julien Gauthier, Alexander Nylander & PierreLuc Dubois are all wingers. |

I honestly dont really like the idea of tanking or whatever.
If they do truly suck ass this year though, so be it. Get that top level offensive guy in here so the worry about Giroux/Voracek's age related decline isn't such a focal point. - flyer_nutter
Eichel and macdavid are 3-0 against the flyers

Mcdavid is also 0-1 as far as being able to make it through a full game against Philly |

Problem is, you can wind up with Ryan Murray damn near as easily as you do Ryan Nugent-Hopkins |

It's not really tanking, though, if Voracek is just having one of those outlier years where nothing goes in the net and we do another year of "Waiting for Consistency and Production" with some of the younger forwards
I don't expect Ghost to look nearly as good each night as he did on Saturday, because no matter what, playing defense in the NHL as a rookie is a hard, hard thing. That mountain is steep
It could be that if Voracek and the PP have one of those years that they simply won't score enough to win 37-plus games |

Yeah their dominating line right now is Jeff Carter's unit.
Lucic with 5G, Toffoli with 10G and Carts chipping in 7G. Just a tick under 50% of the goals scored by the 1st place Pacific Division Kings this season. |

As Carter has gotten older, he's gotten grittier, too -- he will carry dudes to the net. He will not fly by often, circle around the back

All of this Manning hate is ludicrous. He has had two or three very rough plays that led directly to goals. Other than that, he hasn't looked any worse than any of the other guys that have played on a nightly basis. Gudas has made a ton of bad plays and had several direct giveaways, but I guess he gets a free pass because he has several good hits a game. Schultz has been arguably worse than Manning the past few games they have both played at the same time.
I will give you the fact that Manning had a rough stretch of games, but he has looked better the past three or so that he has played. He and Ghost looked fine on Saturday night. I think pairing those two is a good move, because it allows Ghost to focus on offense and Manning to concentrate more on the back end. He's definitely the right one to play tomorrow night against the Kings instead of the Russian because of the Kings physicality.
Manning has played 13 games this season. I think he needs a few more before we throw in the towel. |

They could have(and should have) wound up with either Monahan or Ritsolinen in the 13 draft but they won 4 straight meaningless games to ens the season. I would feel much better about the future with a core cetner group of G Monahan and Coots moving forward |

Its funny, I always believe that there is a method to the madness and we're not privy to all the information that a coach has, but a player going from a healthy scratch one game, to the top line in the next game, is curious to say the least. I also don't understand why Medvedev isn't playing, unless there is some kind of physical issue that they just don't want to talk about. One of the attributes that Gostisbehere brings to the team is his speed. In Hakstol's system he wants to prevent carry ins and force the opposition to dump the puck. Once that happens, it needs to be retrieved, and the faster you can get to it, the more time and space you have to make a play. Medvedev can skate, and he can really pass the puck accurately and crisply. If he is healthy, he should be playing. I don't see playing Gudas 23 minutes as a recipe for success. I like him, but he is being overplayed in some games. You need some physical play in the lineup, but it's a skating and passing game. I'm also not liking how Del Zotto has played, or should I say the style he's playing. Seems like instead of playing like a 2 way defenseman, he's playing like a defensive defenseman. I think he's making a real concerted effort to play better defensively, but is at the expense of his creativity? The attribute of coming late and filling holes for quality chances seems to missing in his repertoire this season. |
