They could have(and should have) wound up with either Monahan or Ritsolinen in the 13 draft but they won 4 straight meaningless games to ens the season. I would feel much better about the future with a core cetner group of G Monahan and Coots moving forward - KINGKENZO
How do you know the Flyers wouldn't have taken someone else like Nurse or Nichushkin? Win all the games you can, and let the chips fall where they may.

Simmonds has been the team's leading goal scorer for 3 years running and is a consistent physical presence. When Schenn is off his game, he's been an empty uniform. Simmonds gets more rope, he would with just about every coach.
Raffl is now on the 4th line, at least if the lines used today stick, with Schenn on the top line. - Jsaquella
I had no idea. Nice change of pace. |

Nichhuskin Morin Domi is how that draft went if I recall correctly. I know D men take much more time but here's hoping Morin was the right move there. |

Its funny, I always believe that there is a method to the madness and we're not privy to all the information that a coach has, but a player going from a healthy scratch one game, to the top line in the next game, is curious to say the least. I also don't understand why Medvedev isn't playing, unless there is some kind of physical issue that they just don't want to talk about. One of the attributes that Gostisbehere brings to the team is his speed. In Hakstol's system he wants to prevent carry ins and force the opposition to dump the puck. Once that happens, it needs to be retrieved, and the faster you can get to it, the more time and space you have to make a play. Medvedev can skate, and he can really pass the puck accurately and crisply. If he is healthy, he should be playing. I don't see playing Gudas 23 minutes as a recipe for success. I like him, but he is being overplayed in some games. You need some physical play in the lineup, but it's a skating and passing game. I'm also not liking how Del Zotto has played, or should I say the style he's playing. Seems like instead of playing like a 2 way defenseman, he's playing like a defensive defenseman. I think he's making a real concerted effort to play better defensively, but is at the expense of his creativity? The attribute of coming late and filling holes for quality chances seems to missing in his repertoire this season. - MJL
I think Michael Del Zotto has sucked. I understand a forward needs to get back if he chooses to play deep on a rush but I'm not even the forwards are aware when or if he's gonna do it. |

I would believe that's the case, if they didn't they'd have been foolish to take him just because of his size & mean streak. |

All of this Manning hate is ludicrous. He has had two or three very rough plays that led directly to goals. Other than that, he hasn't looked any worse than any of the other guys that have played on a nightly basis. Gudas has made a ton of bad plays and had several direct giveaways, but I guess he gets a free pass because he has several good hits a game. Schultz has been arguably worse than Manning the past few games they have both played at the same time.
I will give you the fact that Manning had a rough stretch of games, but he has looked better the past three or so that he has played. He and Ghost looked fine on Saturday night. I think pairing those two is a good move, because it allows Ghost to focus on offense and Manning to concentrate more on the back end. He's definitely the right one to play tomorrow night against the Kings instead of the Russian because of the Kings physicality.
Manning has played 13 games this season. I think he needs a few more before we throw in the towel. - boxcar65
Manning has been getting obliterated despite some of the easiest usage on the team. He's been awful. Schultz hasn't been good, but he's facing far more difficult matchups and usage than Manning. |

I don't think MDZ has been good. 2 points and a-9 after 17 games are really not the best stats. Not too mention he does have a nice new deal paying him almost 4M
Could and should be a lot better |

You cant ask the players to do that but, as management, I would have sat G a few games at the end and not played Mason. That's me. |

IIRC, they showed the draft board on the web show they had on the team's site. They had their top 4 as MacKinnon, Jones, Drouin, Barkov, followed by Monahan, Ristolainen and then Morin. It was a bit obscured, but it could be made out, and they had Morin very high |

Exactly, while I'd have put a few others ahead of him, I honestly had no problem with the selection. |

Man, coming out of that draft with Monahan would have been amazing. He's basically the player everyone wants Coots to develop into. And that's who he is as a rookie. He is going to be a force in this league for a long, long time. |

There is no way I would under any circumstances make any player or roster decisions on the basis of trying to lose. Not ever. That's me. How can you hold any player to a standard, and do something like that? |

Seems like they had Ristolainen behind Morin, Muller, Zadorov and Nurse
