Probably say Manning is better skater and more aggressive then McDonald. Also he has better offensive extinctz in my opinion. - J35Bacher
I don't think there is much difference in skating. I think MacDonald has the ability to be more aggressive, and can be better offensively than he was last season.
Unless you want to look at fighting, I don't think Manning is better than MacDonald is in any way.
Look, we can have another round table discussion on MacDonald as a player, and who thinks what about him. Been there done that.
I think a far more important discussion is what is the end game concerning MacDonald? How is this going to work out in the future?
I think it's best regardless of how anyone sees it working out, that MacDonald returns to the Flyers and plays.

Hakstol said lineup change up front -- Raffl to Bellemare line -- had more to do with keeping dynamic of Bellemare line similar w/o White.
Never seen a coach move a player from the 1st line to the 4th line in order to accommodate the other 4th liners - PhillySportsGuy

I don't really buy his explanation considering Bellemare played mainly with Leier and Gagner on Saturday.
Raffl just hasn't done enough to justify staying on the 1st line.

what are your thoughts on why they have not called Amac up yet?
I get that gostisbehere is a better guy to replace streit on the 1st PP.
but Amac in, sit manning would make sense, is it they are determined to give manning a set number of games before giving up?

Until recently, they didn't have the cap space to call him up. If we look at the team, and where the biggest issues, they're having a real hard time generating offense and scoring goals. They also have some issues defensively, which I believe MacDonald could help with, but how much would that translate to actually winning?
The bottom line is this team lack playmakers. Even more so with Streit being out. MacDonald is not a playmaker, while Gostisbehere, despite his rawness is a playmaker. I just think they need to be diligent in looking at what is best for Gostisbehere and send him down if he starts to struggle.

Paul Holmgren on Brayden Schenn:
"We view (Schenn) as one of the top young players not playing in the league," Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said in a conference call Thursday. "He's had a little bit of a taste with Los Angeles over the last two years, and he went to the (AHL) last year and played some games at the end of the season. We'll see how it goes. He's going to come to our development camp in early July and obviously will be at training camp. I can easily say we think he's capable of doing it, but as with any young player, you never know until you get to that point. So he's going to be given every opportunity to make our team, for sure."

Random thought due to the scouting around hockey buzz. I keep seeing more and more evidence that the flyers would be good trade partners with Edmonton. Would love to know if there is something they are actually shopping for or if there have been discussions.
Might be crazy to connect the dots, but an ideal scenario in my opinion is taking Scrivens off their hands and taking LaBarbera out behind the shed. Wonder if Dillabaugh has the ability to build him back up.
Ollie never got the love those 2 got though. so he don't count plus he was a draft choice. excluded.... - rinaldo
What? After 12/13, there were A TON of people on here who assumed he was going to make the club over Grossmann next season. He got a lot of love on here.
