Burns and Marleau for Malkin? Lol. I normally undervalue Sharks players compared to most fans, but that's just atrocious. |

Is Barrie actually on the trade block or are those reports a little overstate...like with Duchene? - eichiefs9
Overstated. All Friedman just said that teams will be interested to see if the Avs can afford to sign barrie, will be interested if he becomes available.
No poop Friedman....if any teams Notable RFA cant be resigned, Teams will be interested in them. There is no indication that the Avs cant or wont resign him
Duchene is 100% Dater running his mouth on twitter late at night and his TSN buddies jumping on his tweets, thats why non actually can confirm they are hearign ti too, just according to Dater or they arent sure how aggressively his name is out there.
Just dater being a tool, which he already deleted his original trade tweets |

First in order to make a trade of this magnitude they need a GM who is not an idiot.
The GM they have now is just a complete moron and I don't think he is capable of pulling a trade like this off. |

I don't think Malkin is the issue with the Penguins. And trading him would be stupid before the fire the coach (probably something they need to do, seems he's lost control of the team, if he ever had it to begin with).
If your gonna trade anyone, trade Letang. Yeah, the pens need defensive help, but considering he doesn't play defense most of the time anyway, and you might be able to exchange him for a good stay at home defensemen, that's the deal you make. Throw in Scuderi for a bag of pucks and your good to go.

Yeah but who are you targeting? Malkin? You'd have to move heaven and earth to clear the cap space for Malkin. His cap hit is higher than Parise or Suters. 9 mill I think?
I don't see any way Fletch sells the farm for an aging but still elite center with 6 years left on his deal. - MnGump
The Pens need depth at forward(still) and on the D side. A 1st, a 3rd, Pominville, Granlund, and Spurgeon or Brodin perhaps? The money is about right, and this team is one elite center away from doing some damage in the post season. be about right as Granlund's game is more suited to the East which is more open and less rough and tumble than the central. |

Ugh it just gets worse and worse with time. Although without that trade, we probably dont land Suter and Parise. But man would Burns be awesome as a forward on the Wild! |

Wrong. Pens need Crosby and Letang to play as well as they are being paid. Pens forward depth is scoring as much as their top 6. |

He also said that Varly and Iggy are on the trade block too that same night...Went on to says that Iggy to Montreal will get done at the deadline...next day Iggy comes out and says he wont waive his NTC this season, hes not going anywhere.
Shot that "rumour" down pretty quick....according to fired Ex-Beat writer Dater who was let go for telling women they either didnt know anything about hockey bc they are women and that they should send him uncropped Twitter profile pics bc he things they look hot in them....also one of the guys who got his name leaked in the Ashley Madison hack

The pens have an excess of depth on the forwards now. But as a pen fan first and wild fan 2nd ill take nino, spurgeon, Granlund and a 2nd for Geno. |

This article right here is the fundamental problem that I think people have with Eklund and this site in general. It's not so much the fake rumors which are pretty much just for the lols at this point, it's the fundamental misunderstanding of both the game and its players as well as the business of hockey. This article shows very little thought whatsoever, and makes assumptions that look childish in retrospect.
Nashville? Why is Malkin waiving to go there? No mention of his NMC anywhere in this article.
Tampa Bay? You're suggestion for Pittsburgh to rectify it's issue with having 2 #1 centers is to trade Malkin for a #1 center on an expiring deal, and address none of the areas that they have issues with?
Washington? Why would Pitt EVER trade in division, and further more, Washington can't afford to give up Carlson. The Capitals already have one of the best centers in the league dishing to Ovi on the reg.
San Jose? They have enough problems to deal with and are about to go into a rebuild themselves.
St. Louis is the only normal suggestion here. |

Nobody is interested in Granlund or Pominville. Spurgeon could be a nice "piece" in any trade, but Brodin is most likely untouchable.
I'm not saying the prospect of having Malkin in a Wild sweater isn't an extremely intriguing one, I just don't think it can be done without giving up some pieces that are essential to the teams current level of success, and a top 10 pick bust and a has been aging winger isn't going to get it done.
Besides, Fletch can't give any more high round picks away. Cupboard is already bare from all his other failed trades.

You want Spurgeon gone? Becuase I want him on the pens. You want Kunitz or Perron? How about Dupuis or Bennett? Lovejoy or Cole? Any trade like that would also include a pick I assume. |
