Slow day at Rumor Central ?
I would imagine that Malkin has a no-movement clause.

Throw in a 3rd Round pick coming back and I'd do that in a heart beat!
- MnGump

Well I personally want them to look at trading Sid before they look at trading Geno.

I don't think Malkin is the issue with the Penguins. And trading him would be stupid before the fire the coach (probably something they need to do, seems he's lost control of the team, if he ever had it to begin with).

If your gonna trade anyone, trade Letang. Yeah, the pens need defensive help, but considering he doesn't play defense most of the time anyway, and you might be able to exchange him for a good stay at home defensemen, that's the deal you make. Throw in Scuderi for a bag of pucks and your good to go.

- Jance

Its not that he is a problem, its the team has been top heavy for years and it hasn't been working lately. They can get more depth from a return on Malkin and be a more balanced team

He also said that Varly and Iggy are on the trade block too that same night...Went on to says that Iggy to Montreal will get done at the deadline...next day Iggy comes out and says he wont waive his NTC this season, hes not going anywhere.

Shot that "rumour" down pretty quick....according to fired Ex-Beat writer Dater who was let go for telling women they either didnt know anything about hockey bc they are women and that they should send him uncropped Twitter profile pics bc he things they look hot in them....also one of the guys who got his name leaked in the Ashley Madison hack

This is the big Duchene on the trade block source

- DDM-Coga

Dater is a piece of garbage. Relaying this opinion to him is likely why I no longer am able to see his tweets. Didn't know that about the Ashley Madison hack Good, he deserves it. I'm more impressed that someone willingly married him.

You want Spurgeon gone? Becuase I want him on the pens. You want Kunitz or Perron? How about Dupuis or Bennett? Lovejoy or Cole? Any trade like that would also include a pick I assume.
- Zac_O

Don't necessarily want him gone, but he's really one of the only high profile bargaining pieces the Wild have to enhance any kind of big trade. Granlund is a slightly above average center but overall pretty much a 7th overall bust.

Wild have plenty of defensive depth at the moment. Spurgeon is logical expendable asset/deal sweetner they can afford to be without.

The pens have an excess of depth on the forwards now. But as a pen fan first and wild fan 2nd ill take nino, spurgeon, Granlund and a 2nd for Geno.
- Zac_O

Depending on their contracts, I'd probably do that if they replaced that 2nd with a 1st (Pitt adds a 3rd then). But of course this is all after firing MJ.

We do have plenty of forwards though. This wouldn't be the best trade for us unless we move Perron, Kunitz or both. Maybe work out a deal with WPG for Buff including those two? Or move one to MIN instead of our draft pick to upgrade that 2nd to a 1st.

When the bottom 6 is looking better than the top 6 you don't need more depth. You need to fix the top 6. The depth is just fine for the pens. The top 6 players are whats wrong.

Dumoulin won't be dealt. He's probably been our best defense man so far.

We actually have great forward depth right now. We actually have too many forwards and we can't find spots for all of them when fully healthy. Dumoulin-Lovejoy has also been playing like a serviceable to respectable second pairing. Our issue is that our guys that are supposed to be the big guns aren't showing up. On O that's Crosby, Hornqvist, Perron, and Kunitz. Malkin's had a few crappy games but he and Kessel have been pretty consistent. Perron is playing well, just not finding twine. On defense it's Letang and Maatta. Trading Malkin won't fix the problem that our top players suck right now. It's either a coaching or locker room issue and since Malkin is one of the only ones visibly showing some kind of fire in the locker room right now, trading him won't fix either issue.

That might even be an overpayment from the Blues. Barbashev and Schmaltz are blue chip prospects.

Nino Niederreiter is a total scoring winger stud that is severely overlooked in this league. So I'm bias and want him on my 1st favorite team. Sid would love the guy. So I kinda forced a trade more than I should on it. But if this trade were to happen the wild would be in cap issues I think and the pens would have a issue re-signing Spurgeon after this season. Another overlooked stud player IMO.

Sid likes grinders though... Gotta remember that. Spurgeon is an absolute stud though.

EK level 15 rumor when he thinks Washington would want Malkin... him and Ovi have been so terrible together since juniors. And thats a known fact.

Not bad. Anyway to structure the deal with Backes instead of Lehtera?

I would prefer something like Malkin + for Ekblad and Barkov.

I could go further into my bias delusion and say I want Vanek with Sid (my 2 favorite players in the NHL). But his contract isn't the greatest.

But I seriously want the pens to get Spurgeon. Would need to lose Letang to be able to re-sign him though.

This article right here is the fundamental problem that I think people have with Eklund and this site in general. It's not so much the fake rumors which are pretty much just for the lols at this point, it's the fundamental misunderstanding of both the game and its players as well as the business of hockey. This article shows very little thought whatsoever, and makes assumptions that look childish in retrospect.
Nashville? Why is Malkin waiving to go there? No mention of his NMC anywhere in this article.
Tampa Bay? You're suggestion for Pittsburgh to rectify it's issue with having 2 #1 centers is to trade Malkin for a #1 center on an expiring deal, and address none of the areas that they have issues with?
Washington? Why would Pitt EVER trade in division, and further more, Washington can't afford to give up Carlson. The Capitals already have one of the best centers in the league dishing to Ovi on the reg.
San Jose? They have enough problems to deal with and are about to go into a rebuild themselves.
St. Louis is the only normal suggestion here.
