Requested a trade for personal/family reasons. Isles have allegedly been looking to trade him. It's unclear exactly what would make the situation better |

Flyers could call him up whenever they want to, right now due to Streit on LTIR, if they waive and demote Manning, but it would be too tight to the cap. It would be better to wait until Neuvirth and Umberger are ready to play, and then they can demote Leier and Stolarz, to have room under the cap. Even then it's only temporary. MacDonald would have to be sent back down or other moves made when Streit is ready to play. |

It most definitely is. You don't think the CHL is the one with something to lose? - YuenglingJagr
Yes, some teams in those leagues have a tough time getting fans consistantly to games, so if they can hang on to a good player for another year they'd like to have that going for them.
I don't have a problem with it, most even at that age aren't even ready for the AHL |

I have always been surprised we don't see a little more of that, to be honest. As I always say, these guys aren't robots. I can't imagine some of the difficult things they face that fans never hear about |

They go through the same things we do obviously, even after their playing days are over. Doug Flutie just lost both his parents on the same day, due to heart attacks within hours of each other.

Most of the D men on the roster right now do not fit into the long range plans. I wouldnt be surprised if any or several of them were moved at the deadline (Ghost being the notable exception).
Schultz is signed through next year, I could see him being traded.
I can totally see Medvedev being traded. He's on a one year deal.
L. Schenn will draw some interest.
Streit is 38, but will only have one year after this, I can see him being moved if he's healthy and productive.
Del Zotto is probably not going anywhere, but he's young and signed for two more years.
Gudas is signed through this year, but I'm not certain what the interest level around the league would be for him |

How many millions does he make? I'm sure it's enough to buy a nice pad for them. With Nyc hospitals |

you may be comfortable with leaving the care of loved ones completely in the hands of strangers, but not everyone is. not even bazillionaire athletes. |

And what about the rest of the extend family if that were the case.
People don't just ask to be traded closer to home without reason. He seems like a good kid. I'm willing to bet he has one. |

Islanders are in a lose lose here. Due to the small amount of teams he's listed it's going to be hard to get full value back in a trade. If they can't find something they like and keep him he could be a locker room problem. |

He probably does. He's still contracted. Sucks for islanders though they are ready for a run with him in his prime |

Far fetched that he would become a locker room problem. In life ahead of everything comes family. I don't think a player asks for a trade without a legitimate reason to ask for one.

Don't compare yourself to a professional athlete, especially hockey players. It's never a good comparison, unless you left your home at age 14 to live with billets, then got drafted by your job and could work nowhere else in North America except for the place that drafted you
You can quit your job, if you want to, and get another job doing the exact same thing you currently do. Travis Hamonic can't quit the Islanders and play professional hockey elsewhere in the league, which is the exact same thing he currently does
Your life is your life, their life is theirs. They make more money, you have more freedoms, whether you realize it or not |
