Little know fact, White's nickname is Dwarf. And among his closest friends, Fusion.

If Medvedev's hurt/concussed, why not just say so? Otherwise, I don't get it either.
- wolfhounds

Because Flyers???

It's such a joke they way they bend over backwards to downplay, ignore or just flat out lie about injuries.

The entire league is lame about injury disclosure.

Hextall has stated definitively that Medvedev is healthy, and he has been practicing normally since the Washington game as far as I can tell from following reporters on twitter. Perhaps Bill can confirm that.

Maybe Hextall is lying, but I can't think of a reason for him to do that.

If so, then I just don't get it. Does the coaching staff really believe that Manning and Schultz are playing so well that Medvedev doesn't deserve a shot to play??

Watching Couts skate is very painful. I know he is not a great skater, but he looks like he is skating in cement along with the fact he skates most of the time with no hustle , he seems to just glide around the ice and its frustrating to watch.

re: Manning,

Manning isn't the best 'kid' in the cupboard, but they're giving him enough leash to work through problems and to find his niche. There's no cloud of make-a-mistake-and-you're-benched hanging over his head.

This is what developing D at the NHL-level is supposed to look like.

Probably Manning will turn into nothing -- but you never know until you commit to playing the guy through thick and thin.

It's not like they're vying for a Stanley Cup or anything.

I'd rather develop Medvedev as a NHL dman and see if he's worth re-signing or can get us something in a trade. Giving Manning bottom six minutes and acting as an anchor on Ghost is not good for the team.

Here he is earlier this season using his skating ability to get the puck in the offensive zone and create a scoring chance to led to a goal.

He also used his skating ability last night to carry the puck into the zone at the end of a long shift in OT, and set up Ghost for what should have been the GWG.

Yeah, it's painful watching him skate in open ice, but a guy with his size is who you want against a bigger team like LA.

That's puzzling, I see the complete opposite. Interesting.

Sure you can pick out a handful of plays, but he does not do that consistently at all...that is the issue..mainly an issue with most this team.

I think I understand the type of play he's referring to. Couts doesn't have great open ice speed when play becomes a track meet.

He is a guy who does make up for skating deficiencies with good passing and good instincts.

Actually, I liked how Couturier played last night.

I think people focus way too much on individual's skating, and not nearly enough on the team's generally inaccurate passing. Guys like Read, Voracek, Bellemare and Raffl are better skaters than Couturier, but it hasn't helped them score many points this season.

Playing consistently well is an issue for just about the entire roster, why single out Couturier?

Really? you may want to see an optometrist...when hes away from the puck he is gliding most of the time...with the puck around the net he looks to be thinking more then skating...I was never one to complain about him, but this year hes doing the same. Very inconsistent skating

He's one of the least of their worries and one of the few guys that I can see still being on the roster when they become a contender again.
