It blows my mind the Oilers are favoured to get the top pick again. They should be disqualified from the league and sent to the AHL along with Coyotes.

Chiarelli needs to move a few assets out to get some needs filled and I think he will do it. EDM's system looks way better under McClellan and their D will come around with Chiarelli. But it's going to take more than a year. Watching last night's game the Oil hung right in there with CHI. Did not look like a bottom 10 team at all vs the champs and they did get screwed in OT on the Hossa goal. Too many men missed call. Booner has talked about manufactured wins for the league and last night was a perfect example in the EDM-CHI game.

But isn't culling the vets just going to turn us into the Oilers, with less talented youngsters?

Only if we are brain dead would we become the Oilers.

If you got rid of all the vets you would have huge cap space. You would get trade picks and good prospects back .

Sedin 7.1
Sedin 7.1
Miller 6.0
Edler 5.0
Burrows 4.6
Hamhuis 4.5
Prust 2.5
Higgins 2.5
Weber 1.5

Total 40.8 mil in space. If you can not build a better team with that much space and our existing youth then you shouldn't be a GM

That game last night was actually a lot closer than the final score, for 57 minutes they were right there in it. Canucks lack of size was very apparent though.

Virtanen had probably the worst game I've seen him play, he continues to give the puck away in the neutral zone, coach sat him for it.

We had chances last night but it was apparent we got bounced around and even rag dolled . We would get our asses kicked against this bigger team in the PO.

I can see JV struggling . When things go bad on a team it spoils throughout. I still think Torts word ring true. This is a very stale team. It is predictable and easy to play against.

I liked the way Grenier played on that fourth line, he was good, used his size and reach to shelter the puck from the Jets players.

McCann was good, again, not great, but good. Growing pains of a young lineup. Keep in mind they're missing Sutter, Vrbata and Prust, not world beaters by any means but their presence makes the team better.

I missed Sbisa getting hurt last night, six minutes of ice-time? I guess I was talking too much during the game

Probably his head blocking that flurry of punches from Peluso.

Vrbata has not done anything all year.

They do miss Sutter and Prust. Prust does bring energy and wil defend players but he is a middleweight. WTF has Dorsett been doing ? Is he stil playing?

Grenier did have a good game.

Yes it was a clean hit, but teams respond to it . Canucks don't have a player that can answer that and the NHL doesn't penalize against that type of retaliation .

Moves will be made, but not all this season +summer. The getting rid will involve some trades, but the Sedins contracts will expire, won't be traded. Not sure who else will be here for the duration of their contract?

I still don't see the club going full sell off, but if they are going to miss the playoffs, and they know this early, then anyone on expiring contracts should be moved. Don't think they will want to miss the playoffs for consecutive years.

He's scouting this kid, #12. He's got 40 points in 18 games but he's undersized.

I know they won't be moved but I am forewarning you that people in here will be screaming in two years how bad they are.

This year at the beginning of the year we heard about Team Canada Hamhuis and 30 goal scorer getting us a first round pick at TDL. Some were even suggesting give Hamhuis 4 more years. Their Trade Value has fallen more than Leaf Fans expectations on Dec 26th .
The time to move them was this past summer. Sedins have high value now but in two years when everyone is b1tching about cycle games , slow speed and drop passes we will still be stuck with Edler and the twins and no way out.
