Hakstol has used them almost as a secondary checking line. They've been matched against Hertl I believe this game.

But Coots line is still the checking line. It's seeing the hardest usage by a good margin. That line is flat out destroying top lines each game. Better than in any season prior. I think the points will come for them, even if not in bushels. Just a matter of time. Then again no one scores at ES.

As much as I like Simmonds, I don't think he's the best fit with Couturier. If they can find someone to play LW on the top line next year, I'd like to see Konecny on RW with Couturier and Raffl. Simmonds could then be on a line with Laughton and Read.

That penalty called just saved them.

That was a perfect example of just how bad this team is on breakaways. How the hell do you not get a shot off there? I don't think Read had a clue what he was gonna do.

How was that not boarding.

Even when this team plays well (good pressure in the offensive zone, moving their feet, nice tracking of the puck, winning key battles) they're still not gonna score very often.

I feel bad for the goalies. A lot of OTL's and Shootout L's because they just aren't good enough offensively.

If we want Couturier, who is still a young player, to develop his offensive game, don't you think playing him with one of the offensive defenseman could help? So dissecting that little nuance is a part of this team moving forward.

I don't think it's the best fit either because they play a similar perimeter, boards battle type of game. But they're doing good work still.

I dream of Konecny playing RW on Coots's line maybe even next year.
