Yes, I'm one of those guys.
To your point though, yes, they are better with him in the lineup (even this crappy lineup) than without him. |

One of those guys who would complain about the Flyers if they went 41-0-41 and won the President's Trophy?
Good analogy, actually.
I was thinking along those lines watching the pupu platter of guys Hakstol tried in the middle in Couturier's absence. - johndewar
Everybody outside the regular top 6 are getting their asses kicked in the shot attempt battle. I can't remember seeing such a clear demarcation before. After Simmonds it just falls off a cliff, although Gagner at least has the excuse of getting a strangely low OZ start %.

I would only chime in when the peanut gallery started calling them undefeated with that record.

That's fair, but I really do see a big difference between (for example) the SO loss to the Kings and the actual losses against Washington and Colorado. |

Especially considering we should have had a two goal lead because that no-goal was a bs call. |

Points percentage, bro. That is really all that matters (sans tie breakers) |

The only difference is the loser point. Otherwise, a loss is a loss. |

Then those who want to talk about that should indicate that. |

5-6 -> 1-6 both are still records that don't make the playoffs |

He's Joe from accounting. Nobody notices the good day-to-day essential work he does but when he's gone they're like "wtf is happening?" - Scoob
This blows my "Hartnell/Umberger stool" analogy out of the water. |

yea the eyeball test tells your the kings are a much slower team than Wash or Colorado which is why the game was closer for us |

There's a difference, sure. Still, if we're leaning on points percentage to deem a club a ".500 team", then more than two thirds of the league is above .500. It's pretty much a participation trophy. |

I don't think it's just speed, because the Rangers are a fast team and we played even better against them than we did against the Kings. |

But they're only 2 games under .500 so no need to worry. |

Isn't that the number he indicated? I didn't really care enough to do the math, but it sure looked that way to me. This isn't baseball. A .500 team in hockey doesn't mean they have as many wins as losses. Points is how the standings are calculated

When the NHL institutes a uniform point structure for W/L/OtW/OtL ie 3/0/2/1, then we can use point percentage, until then, win % is W/games played.
