I see your point for sure. I just think when a player "requests" a trade and it gets in the public, the power then shifts in favor of everyone else. Snow shopping Hamonic to the 4 teams privately (pre media attention) would fetch a much bigger return than what is now playing out to be a player wanting out. Believe me when we say, we have been in this situation before. Kesler "requested" a trade and gave 2 or 3 teams as well. Benning was handcuffed and now we have a pizza delivery boy as our 5/6D... I think Snow is in no rush and will try and squeeze as much as he can, but I don't think he will fetch what the Islanders will probably deserve for Hamonic's Value. - Codes1087
answering the Kesler thing (and hillbilly's post):
The difference is that Kesler "requested" a trade for the reason that he didn't want to be a Canuck anymore. Travis wants nothing more than to be an Islander, but he's (rightfully) putting his family ahead of his hockey career and that requires a trade. It's not like Travis has one foot out the door and was just being polite about it. He loves it here. He's not necessarily in a rush to leave, but family-duty calls and he's doing the right thing. I don't think he's knocking on Snow's door every day and asking if there was anything new. Whatever the situation is it doesn't appear to be dire and necessary of immediate attention, so he's content to wait it out. |

I don't think it would be that far off, but if it were up to me...I'd be asking for Tanev plus a little bit more. Nothing extravagant. - eichiefs9

Higgins Tanev and a second - VANTEL
Higgins doesn't fit anywhere in the lineup. Our bottom 6 is great and I don't see where he cracks the top-6. |

What are your day top 3 possible deals ? - Redmile247
I admittedly don't watch enough Western Canadian hockey to have a fair opinion...so let's not all freak out if I say something uninformed here :
I'm listing them in order of who I think is most likely a partner with the Isles, not my own order of preference
- WPG: Hometown for Travis, most logical. I would hope Snow pushes hard for a 1-for-1 deal with Trouba, but that's not likely. So I could see Myers and something else coming our way.
after that..it's kind of a crapshoot.
I don't see the Flames moving Gio, Brodie, or Hamilton...and if that's the case then there's no business to be done there. Pass on Wideman and Russell.
VAN has Tanev, but I think would need to add something to sweeten the pot.
EDM I have no idea the reality of them moving Eberle, but I'd be fine with Eberle and Klefbom for Hamonic and something else (Okposo is a pending UFA and won't be re-signed). |

If Snow can get a deal where Byff's agent has a deal in place with Snow before the trade happens its a good deal. - thundachunk
BUF is going to cost 7.5 next year for about 5-6 years. Do you see Snow throwing money like that at Byf? |

Yes, and he's only in the lineup while Strome gets his act together in Bridgeport. He's a press box warrior otherwise. |

Probably not. Pulock is knocking down the door, plus Pelech and Mayfield are pegged as future 4-6 guys. Pelech may exceed expectations a little. Mayfield I think is a super-mean bottom pairing guy.
I'm not saying they're never going to spend money, but with the eventual Tavares mega-contract looming they're not committing an insane amount of money and term to a 30 year old guy. |

Don't remember Souray's situation but I'm not sure Pronger plowing local reporters instead of his wife is comparable to Hamonic's family situation. |

It is just out there now. No rush or anything. But I think it will have a build up or gain momentum.
just looked at the schedule, unless it is other teams reporters, the Isles don't play the Canucks until January, likely we won't hear much until then, once this dies down a little. |

Not really, I could see the trade more likely to happen with Vancouver since the two teams exchanged multiple ahl players. Building up the rep to trade with eachother more often than not. |

I'm a geography major. How is Vancouver a better option than New York if he's from Manitoba? And why aren't the Leafs or Sens included in this "list"? |

No one is throwing that deal at a 31 year old with conditioning issues. |

Hamhuis is on downside of his career so I doubt he is an option. Edler likes the Vancouver Country Club to much to walk away from his buds so that leaves Tanev. Tradable , similar and the same age. Salary friendly and reliable. Apparently now he is even a PP specialist. |

It is. I know he's good, but (at least every time I watch) he takes a penalty like every third shift. Frankly, I'm not all that interested in him. Less interested in him at $7M+ and even less interested in 5 or 6 years of service from him. |

The reported teams were WPG and the Western Canadian teams. So far, that's it. I could speculate, but that's all it would be until they reported that other teams are in the mix as well. I would imagine that they won't want to trade him in-conference. |
