it's a statement, kind of like your statement that Bernier has more talent. - the_eye

i thought clarkson was a dumb signing
bernier does have more talent than reimer.. but he's in a slump
and you guys all make excuses out the ass for reimer's 3 year slump but throw bernier under the bus for slumping for less than a year
you guys are like old hens who have their favorite chick and nothing will sway you - Dozzer

I could see two players maybe three being moved at the deadline.
but they can still build a proper team together and not lose games all the time.
The leafs problem, has been drafting. They need to play the best they can, win or lose and not rely on a top 5 pick but rather, quality drafting in the rounds after the first. - Fakepartofme
I think Polak, Matthias and possibly Grabner will get moved.
In comes Percy, Frattin and Leivo or Panik |

I was thinking about this yesterday after seeing the latest game sheet from the Knights. I just wasn't sure if there were rules in place preventing NHL dafted OHL players from signing professional contracts over seas? |

Going back to your Sparks post. He has incredible push off with his legs, super quick from post to post. - LeafMan
Great article on him on AHL.com....about how he started to take his craft more seriously, eating properly and everything. I love that he was an afterthought last year despite putting up decent AHL numbers the year before, and that he has just done everything the organization has asked of him. And he has a cool name. |

I'm just pulling your chain... there can't be any doubt that Reimer's on a hot streak and it is VERY VERY unlikely that he can sustain the stats.
whether Bernier has more talent than Reimer is a silly debate (my opinion). I don't think many would argue that Daigle was more talented than Chris Pronger - its the application of the talent that matters.
Bernier stats do NOT support the argument that he's just on a 10 game slide... he has sucked since the middle of last season, and has more or trended down since the middle of the previous season.
I'm not so much of Reimer fan as I am anti-Bernier... because - in my opinion - he was anointed as the starter without really earning it with more than a few games of superior play. For the same reason that people are now legitimately saying we can't judge Reimer for 10 good games.. it needs to be a larger sample - the same question SHOULD have been asked when Carlyle (Mr TimeOut) anointed lil Jonny.
And quite frankly - signing Bernier to anything more that a one year show-me deal last summer was poor judgement (again my opinion). - BorjeFan4Ever
guess who else sucked since the mid of last season.
THE WHOLE TEAM
Even reimer.
I posted a month by month stats of Reimer and Bernier of last year. They pretty much alternated every month since Jan as to who was the crappier goalie. However, from November to December it was Bernier (or it may have been October to November). But Bernier finished with better stats overall.
But I agree the two year deal was bad judgement.
Reimer is playing better now, keep him in. Play Bernier once in a blue moon to improve his performance....if it does |

The whole teams sucked is not a valid arguement when it comes to Reimer, he's supposed to do it all by himself in the seventh game.
Oh we're not talking about that |

i think a player like Marner can still grow other parts of his game this season in the OHL. i don't know of many 18 year olds who have the defensive side of the game down pat. - DoubleDown
Sending him back this season was the right thing. I am talking about next year.
And mainly as an overall player development step.. stuff can be learned anywhere

actually that occurred to me the other day.. they could do that as well. - senstroll
it makes sense to me, he would play against tougher competition, but in a league with bigger ice and not as much hitting. seems like the best scenario for his development. my biggest concern for him, is the adjustment he is going to have to make playing against much bigger and faster competition. and playing in Europe would seem like a logical stepping stone between the OHL and NHL in that regards. |

I wish I could remember who it was, but there was a great story a few years ago about a Leafs defenceman who was sent down to the A.
At the time, the farm club was the St. John's Maple Leafs. The kid "got the message", and got an apartment next to Mile One Arena. For that season, his entire life was a 3 block radius - the arena, the gym, his apartment. He finally figured out that being a pro took a higher level of dedication.
Sadly, I can't remember who it was. |

I'll use Dozzer's argument about the goalie and the team sucking to counterpoint your attempt to defined Bernier's talent.
1) I don't doubt that the analyst think Bernier is more talented. My mother is a more talented chef than I am... that doesn't mean when I want a specific dish that I don't make it. Newsflash - analysts are wrong a lot.
2) Leafs crumbled in game 7 against Bruins - that's fact. The team pretty much laid down - and Reimer couldn't hold the fort. That's fact. Goalie gets blamed ultimately (I don't believe that Reimer should take all the blame) and should take a large portion of it.
3) When the Leafs fell of the cliff... do you blame the team or do you blame the goaltending? So you can't - which ever way you answer alleviate all the blame from the goaltending. And Bernier was the defacto starter duing both Leaf epic late season cliff diving exercises.
