Got it. Although I'm not sure how saying "good for the tank" would be disallowed. But I'll tone it down.

The team wont be COMPLETELY different next year. The expendables will be worth more the better they play. Kadri, Rielly, JVR, Dion, Gardinr either stay or are worth more. Kids on Marlies doing well playing the same system. But yeah, let's just suck for a % chance in the draft
- Canada Cup

You could be right. The D will more or less be the same. But Bozak, Boyes, Grabner, Mathias, Parenteau, Spaling, maybe even JVR could all be gone by next year. So I don't think building a winning environment now will continue onto next year. I'd rather have a top 5 pick this year, and the kids from the marlies will bring their winning environment with them after their deep Calder run

I think any fan who has suffered through the last 10, 20, 30 years with the Leafs deserves to hope for anything they want for the Leafs.

I hope they get another top5 pick, its Ok to hope for that.

When looking at the prospects, you have Nylander and Marner, who seem like a good 1-2 punch down the middle. If Kadri is still around, you now have 3 potentially good centres.
Looking at the wings, you have top 6 calibre players with potential in JvR, Lupul, Kapenan, Brown. Other potentials are Johnson, and Timashov. We would probably like to solidify the wing.
Now D, you have a corner stone in Rielly. and some decent pieces in Percy, Loov, Harrington, and Dermott.

I think our prospect pool and rebuild is actually farther along than most think.

Here are Cubs rumors I just talked about on @espn1000. Price might be heading back to Tor. $ might be too rich. Plus Tor might be his fav.

If they could somehow trade Richardey, then they would have the money, or would they have it anyway?...

I would love to be a fly on the wall for Jays brass budget meetings.

The revenues must have gone up so much post-Price trade that it would be hard to just turn around and revert to the old, miserly budget.

I think we see Nylander this year. Will burn a year off ELC so they have to pay him sooner but won't count as an accrued year towards UFA if he plays less than half a season.

Depends if Rogers is willing to spend more.
but if you bring price back, I think Hutch might be the odd one out.

Price
Stroman
Estrada

Chavez/Sanchez

Considering Rogers is the richest owner in the league, and the run last year, and if they are good the butts in the seats this year, they have no excuse...

I don't, I think they will want him to make a run at the Calder, and become a champion.

Most likely, when the trade deadline happens, the Leafs will move out some of their players, making room on the team.
B level prospects like Leivo, Leipsic, etc and vets like Arcobello and Panik will come back up, while Jr players who are eligible will come up to the Marlies will join them for their playoff run as well as any prospects we get in trades.

I completely forgot about Panik.

According to the stats, he's doing OK - 16 points (4-12) in 16 games.

Any Marlies fans want to weigh in on how he has looked?

Their offense is so stacked that they could trade Tulo and not even notice. He did nothing in the regular season offensively and they were still fine.

If they have the money for it I'd prefer if they kept him of course.

Proving you don't build a winner by simply having a bunch of first round picks, too bad this club didn't get this the last how ever many years...

If he gets you Sonny Gray, you do it... Goins at short is as good defensively and DT at second is just fine... Maybe thats why they sticked up on infielders yesterday in case of injury...
