I think any fan who has suffered through the last 10, 20, 30 years with the Leafs deserves to hope for anything they want for the Leafs.

I hope they get another top5 pick, its Ok to hope for that.

- senstroll

I'd rather have another top 5 pick than a playoff appearance. Calgary even won a round last year, and establishing that winning culture doesn't seem to have been all that great for them, at least so far.

I completely forgot about Panik.

According to the stats, he's doing OK - 16 points (4-12) in 16 games.

Any Marlies fans want to weigh in on how he has looked?

- Atomic Wedgie

Sort of the same as always. He needs to play with skilled players. He's the type that can finish their chances, or succeed when others pull him up. When he drops down a line, he starts floating again.

I just took a look on nhl.com

This year (just grabbed random names to get a bit of a range):

Lundqvist .956
Reimer .950
Luongo .944
Schneider .940
Bishop .938
Price .933
Mason .925

If .925 = Mason then it's not all that great maybe lol

- daeth

I believe it's second in the league, only behind Lundqvist

So Vancouver DID have 2 of the top 5 goalies in the league. Now they have Bo Horvat.

Over the 3 years it apparently pretty good. But it was starter quality and he was backing up...

No it's ceasarborgia, it won't be hard to spot sofa, sooner or later he will slip up if he gets back on.

I guess that's why he was so mad at me the other night. I made fun of ancient aliens guy.

there is no way they should trade Tulo, or even think about it.
I honestly cant believe its mentioned ..madness

- senstroll

How is it madness? They were the best offensive team in the league before he showed up. Defense wouldn't take a massive hit either since Goins would likely move to SS and Travis to 2B.

Tulo would get them a ton in return too. If that is what it took to keep Price it'd be a no brainer. Price means way more to this team than Tulo.

I would love to be a fly on the wall for Jays brass budget meetings.

The revenues must have gone up so much post-Price trade that it would be hard to just turn around and revert to the old, miserly budget.

- Atomic Wedgie

I think they announced a 'flexible' budget ......148ish?

If they could somehow trade Richardey, then they would have the money, or would they have it anyway?...
- aminnes

Why trade Richardey? 200 plus innings for $12M.

I didn't post the rankings in order though. There are other guys ahead of them like Mrazek, Berra, etc.

Use the NHL stats package:

http://www.nhl.com/stats/...eType=2&aggregate=0&pos=G

Last year, Carey Price was best starter with .942.

.925 would make you about #14 for starters last year.

- 1979AD

Vancouver handled those trades terribly.
1 top 5 goalie for a pick - Bo Horvat
1 top 5 goalie for - Jacob Markstrom, Shawn Matthias, and former 7th round pick Steven Anthony.

He has to be lucky to be healthy for 2/3s of a season? Bit of an exaggeration there. If he's lucky, he'll play 150. Goins at SS is a huge drop-off, and there's no depth/insurance if Goins or Devo get injured.

They have the cash for Price if they really want him. If they need to free up an extra $7mill, trade Revere and use Pompei/Saunders in left.

Richardey isn't anything special but guys like him are still great to have. 200+ innings is pretty underrated. Buehrle and Richardey both gave the bullpen rest pretty consistently.

You def keep Richardey.

First Tulo now has a no-trade clause, so doesnt really matter.
if they want to be a threat again.. Keep Tulo, and add another pitcher

You could be right. The D will more or less be the same. But Bozak, Boyes, Grabner, Mathias, Parenteau, Spaling, maybe even JVR could all be gone by next year. So I don't think building a winning environment now will continue onto next year. I'd rather have a top 5 pick this year, and the kids from the marlies will bring their winning environment with them after their deep Calder run
- domi_legend

Those are the guys that won't be back... but none really plays a big role anyways.

The Leafs aren't going to completely tear down the team... they're building a lot of the long-term contracts up, so they can support the youth.

If you bring everyone in at once, you'll just wind up with an Edmonton situation.

If he gets you Sonny Gray, you do it... Goins at short is as good defensively and DT at second is just fine... Maybe thats why they sticked up on infielders yesterday in case of injury...

no way in hell are the A's are taking on that contract
