How so exactly?

No real reason, just seemed like an appropriate thing to say at the moment.

6 points behind...one more game played. Why is this even a discussion. Leafs suck now, Habs are good now(I puked in my mouth as I said it)

Let's be real then Nylander is a year younger than McCarron and he's producing at a much higher rate. Last year Nyl came halfway through the season and had a higher PPG average than anyone in the leauge except Detroits Pulkinnen(good job Detroit on patiently developing, but he left halfway through the season.)

Also btw, last year's rookie scoring leader was Connor Brown(tied for 12th overall) - a currently injured Toronto Marlie - who was the OHL's leading scorer the year before(admittedly as a 19-20 year old). If Willie Ny had played on the Marlies the whole season we would have had the top two rookie scorers in the AHL - one at 18 years and one at 20 years.

Our prospects are gold. Don't deny it. Price, Subban...Plekanec(I've always been a fan) are gold. I hate the habs, and fully believe my Leafs will win a cup first...but let's not call awesome players garbage here.

- Allan Bester

The Leafs appear to have great prospects, but they are exactly that, prospects.

I never have and never would call Nylander garbage... Far from it.

Just saying a Montreal rookie has similar stats in his first year in the pro's.

McCaron may, or may not become a good NHL player. Same goes for any prospect tearing it up in minor or professional leagues.

At the end of the day, don't jizz all over your prospects until they do something in the NHL.

Chipchura was a blue chip can't miss prospect for the Habs for quite a while. Quite a few others as well. The NHL is a different beast. Let's see results before passing judgement.

Thinking is hard. Once they do something in the NHL they stop being prospects. We are happy that a Leaf prospect is doing well in the best league you hit before getting to the NHL. The kid has been playing at a high level against men for a while.

Excuse us while we jizz away at a prospect who is showing great promise.

Your definition of the word 'similar' is not the same as the rest of us. 1.35 ppg for a 19 year old is much better than 0.94 ppg for a 20 year old.

Agreed though, prospects are just prospects, but when you suck like the Leafs have you get some of those top picks that are sort of sure deals - Reilly, Nylander, Marner(eventually)

Ya, that never happened.

At 19 Chipchunka was putting up 55 pts in 59 games playing against teenagers.

I don't blame you at all, and you should be happy. A positive sign, and positive signs when you include Marner.

I have been defending McCaron for a while. But he is a prospect. Just a prospect. Until he proves something in the NHL, he is but a prospect.

Chipchura was never seen as a cant miss prospect. He was considered a bottom 6, gritty player that could be a future captain. obviously he didnt pan out.

McCarron doesnt have the "same" stats as Nylander. 17 pts in 18 games playing on a line with guys that have 20 and 16 pts apiece is not nearly as impressive as 23 pts in 17 games and leading the team in scoring by 7 pts...McCarron was also drafted a year earlier, and his rookie season at 20 could be considered similar to Nylanders 18 year old rookie season

Pffff... McCarron had 2 goals and 3 assists in a professional hockey league about a week ago.

Being from St.Johns, I follow the ice caps very closely.
you realize that McCarron is playing shotgun on a line with Bud holloway right? you know a guy who had 71 pts in the Swedish league a couple years back. to Mccarons credit he has shown some finishing ability after being pretty average in juniors (67 pt career high). but to say he is at the same level as nylander is akin to saying reimer is as good as price, its just dumb and makes you look stupid.
