All we're missing is a scorer.

Kapanen/Harrington and a pick or 2 for Kessel or Malkin

We now have an unknown about Reimer. Is this a typical hot streak or is the new puck tracking thing he's been working on actually improving his game?

I really don't know if he's this good, or as good as he was when he got us into the playoffs and his rookie season....or if he's as bad as he was the last two seasons.
Even Ben Scrivens looked great playing behind a structured defense and the Leafs have serious structure now. And then there's the whole concussion thing, takes awhile to get back to normal after those. So who really knows if this is him playing over his head, I don't, that's for sure.

Sometimes Athletic goalies take longer to figure out positioning. This is due to the fact that their large frame and natural athletic ability allowed them to cover up for their errors when in Jr.
The NHL exposed Reimer, and it was made worse when Allaire got here.
Add in the concussion from Gionta, and management getting Bernier and telling Reimer he was a backup, and the fact that Carlyle's system ended up screening our goalies while also failing to clear the net or any rebounds, and it left Reimer looking mediocre.

Now, he's figured out how to track the puck, and Babcock said something when hired that rings true. Babcock said that the goalies would get a clear sight of the puck more often. By doing this, Reimer is improving his rebound control, and when he lets one out, Babcocks system is good at clearing the second chance away.

Goalies are an anomaly...simple as that.

I'd take Reimer over Bernier though; he has the size, the drive and Godorov on his side.

Carlyle ruined Reimer's confidence and Babcock has revived it.

Hard to say whats going to happen from here out...

Goalies are always hard to judge. Sometimes a goalie coach and drastically change their career.
Tim Thomas couldn't crack the league until his late 30's.
Mike Smith couldn't figure things out till he was almost 30 and was traded to Arizona.
Pekka Rinne didn't break into the league until he was 26.
Carey Price had worse numbers than Halak for 3 years until Halak was traded. Price was 23 when he was given the net and was 26 when he started to dominate.

Reimer is currently 27. has he figured it out, or is it hot streak?

Just playing devils advocate Bruce.....

2012-13 he was 7th in the league in spct, tied for 11th in wins
2010-11 he was 10th in the league in spct

And yeah, in 2011-12, 2013-14, 2014-15 he sucked.

so its not like he's never done this before. By my count that's 3 seasons great, 3 years poop. *I'm being too generous counting this season, as we're 1/4 of the way, but I'm not sure I can just ignore it right now.

im not quite sure Babcock deserves any credit for this. it took an injury for Reimer to get consecutive starts and find his groove. Babcock seemed fully behind Bernier before this happened. Reimer deserves all the credit for that.

oh no doubt, but keep in mind the system the team plays and a goalie coach/coach can help a player.

carlyle would go out of his way to say that reimer sucked.
