this is true... but for reasons that should be obvious - I would think you do one of two things
1) deal Reimer now - if there's a market for him AND the return is decent/good
or
2) sign Reimer for two years at a reasonable rate AND dump Bernier - hence the suggestions regarding teams in trouble who MIGHT consider taking a chance on Bernier as buying low right now - BorjeFan4Ever
i don't think teams are all of a sudden changing their evaluation of Reimer based on one hot 10 game stretch. if the Leafs want to get something decent for him, he needs to play at a high level for a good 2-3 months. |

what about the 2 previous games where he basically stood on his head to win both games to even get it to game 7... 2 do or die games.
I really dont get piling everything on Riemer.. I mean I get that its the moment that sticks in your head.. but I think you place way to much value on it. - senstroll
well obviously Dozzer's talent evaluation and view of the team parallels Dave Nonis...
'cause good old DaveN went out and got Bernier and the "missing piece" Clarkson at the point.

clearly you are correct - if someone were willing to give a good offer at this point... then I believe you'd have to take it. |

time to throw Bernier back between the pipes - pull the parashoot and let it drop.
whatever they finish, Oilers will be worse and Arizona/Phoenix/whatevertheyarecalled thisweek wins the "lottery" and gets Matthews. |

People seem to forget that. He will be evaluated on his year.
After 10 games of playing well, he somehow will be the starter of the future?
No.
He's playing well now. Can he do it the rest of the year...we'll see. But I doubt the current stats he has now, will be what he finishes with.
Bernier' s had a bad 9 games, not a good trade asset right now, Reimer's value hasnt increase too much |

cept when it mattered in game 7
the guy doesnt have the back bone to be the guy going forward.. crumbles under pressure.. a bit of adversity.. such as a goaltending challenge for the No. 1 role.. and he folds. - Dozzer
Holy crap, it was just him.....
Remember how young he was?
He's a better goalie now. |

Don't see a need. This is Reimer's shot to take the reigns and run with it. He succeeds, it's a good thing for the Leafs, he fails...it's also a good thing for tank nation. Win-win. I guess that's why I'm enjoying this season so much, i'm happy win or lose. |

I would like to see any goalie who could have survived the sheer number of high quality shots and constant pressure he faced in those last 10 minutes. - vermie22
sigh.. think about this
if your argument was remotely true.. why havent any other team in the league pried reimer away from the leafs?
i am sorry.. the guy is an average goaltender who is not the answer in net for the leafs.
you will never convince me otherwise |

bernier does have more talent than reimer.. but he's in a slump
and you guys all make excuses out the ass for reimer's 3 year slump but throw bernier under the bus for slumping for less than a year

i am not saying tank LM... but they should be looking to deal reimer asap
teams would offer up something that would be more useful down the road to the leafs right now for the over achiever.
the kids arent even on the team (for the most part) .. so moving out useful parts that arent part of the long term picture is exactly what the leafs should be doing.
dont bench reimer.. oh no.. that sends a bad message.. but move him.. and keep going as is. - Dozzer
Reimer's 10 game performance hasnt increased his value that much...its not a goalie market.
If he keeps it up until march...that could be a different story. |

It pisses me off when I come on and I see after a loss "it's great for the tank" or after a win "they can't tank properly". I've had enough of seeing this, it's pathetic. - LeafMan

i don't watch the Leafs but seems to me, there should be signs as to whether it's a hot streak or a legit evolution in his game. like is he making crazy acrobatic saves and giving up rebounds and flopping? because if so it won't last. but if things seem a bit easier for him then it's definitely a sign that the improved play is sustainable. |

I think Reimer took his fair share of hate over the last three seasons d'amigo. It took me a year and a half to turn on Bernier. And Reimer only recently won me back.....much the same way he did in the lockout year (oh the discussions I used to get into over Bernier vs Reimer way back then). |

Or it could be as simple as his new technique (head trajectory) a simple tweak to his game. Time will tell. |

The above is so true.
If you could combine Bernier's talent, with Reimer's heart and fight....we'd have a number one goalie.
But I will say this, the trainer Reimer did over summer has improved his positioning, calmness in the net and even his rebound control. Ive liked what Ive seen in 10 games......now can he do it for the rest of the season? We'll see.
sidenote.
But I do recall you and ref two going on about intangibles when Clarkson was signed...even taking little shots at people who said why would they sign him. |
