Fluke accidents tend to happen more often to players that are prone to injury.
Lehner is young so who knows, he might never get hurt again - sbroads24
So it's his fault that the ice was poopty and he ended up spraining his ankle?
Sorry, but I don't buy that. Does it suck? Sure. But like I've said about a million other times. Most the the players in the league miss some sort of time each year with an injury. If Miller made it 1 year here without missing time for some reason or another, that's about it.
Dom used to miss time as well. Injuries are part of the game. It's a contact sport.

Some sort of time, and months are pretty big differences. This is the 2nd year in a row he's had a lengthy injury.
I'm not exactly sure why all of the sudden we let players off the hook for getting hurt and brush them off as all "freak accidents"
I don't remember hearing how Tim Connolly was so unlucky or Ryan Miller.

Then you need to work on your listening skills. Any injury is unlucky really.
We should be concerned about Ullmark then too, being that he's had to have double hip surgery already and is only 22. Yet nobody is "concerned" about his injury history like they are Lehner's.

I get that it sucks when guys are out with injury. I don't like it any more than the rest of the fans of the sport. But it happens. It's a contact sport.

The problem may be the bolded...it's a fast, hard hitting sport - why are they being criticized for injuries in the first place?
And again, Lehner has had 2 injuries, Connolly and Miller had much longer histories - stashu
Players who get injured frequently get criticized all the time.
When the Bills were rumored to get Sam Bradford, I remember most people saying they wouldn't want him because he's injury prone. Not that they think he might have another "freak accident"
Some athletes get hurt more than others. It's not all random.
Again, not saying Lehner's career is doomed, but I think it's a legitimate concern

It would prolly not be so concerning if it wasn't an impact type player. Impact players are more prone to get injured than say Weber ? Who is one we hoped would have that luck at times.

Edmonton should just cut their losses with McDavid now then. Broken hand in Jr last year and now a broken clavicle.
