Edmonton should just cut their losses with McDavid now then. Broken hand in Jr last year and now a broken clavicle.

He's injury prone.

It would prolly not be so concerning if it wasn't an impact type player. Impact players are more prone to get injured than say Weber ? Who is one we hoped would have that luck at times.

Obligatory.

Players who get injured frequently get criticized all the time.

When the Bills were rumored to get Sam Bradford, I remember most people saying they wouldn't want him because he's injury prone. Not that they think he might have another "freak accident"

Some athletes get hurt more than others. It's not all random.

Again, not saying Lehner's career is doomed, but I think it's a legitimate concern

- sbroads24

I get the "concern" over Kane, but the Lehner stuff has been laughable and has been said by a few since he was acquired.

I'm never gonna criticize a player for getting hurt. It sucks, but it's a rough sport and everyones' body is different as to what they can take, not to mention every situation where and injury happens is different. A check by Phaneuf on 11/14/12 isn't the same as one he may have given last week, for instance.

The only concern is trading for those types of players, and I know that's part of what you've mentioned as your concern, but Connolly and Miller were never in that situation (or Peca, Hasek, etc), poop just happens. Connolly was a special case because for how long was it thought that he just kept having the same issue for one reason yet it was all related to something else.

Bills and Sabres pull out the wins tonight
- beargk

Have the Bills surpassed their futility against the Dolphins back in the day with their rivalry with the Patriots now?

A guy at work just asked me "Are your Bills gonna be able to pull it out tonight?"

My answer: Hell no! They may be in the lead after 1 or perhaps even at half time, but they'll end up getting blown out before the game is done.

Funny thing is, a lot of Edmonton fans are concerned with his health long term. He isn't a big guy

But yes, they should cut him. Because I said we should cut Lehner

McDavid isn't a big guy? He's 6'1" and weighs 190 lbs. That's not big enough? Crosby isn't even 6" but I never hear anyone say he's not very big.

Good lord....

6'1 and under 200 lbs isn't big.

The average NHL'er is 6'1 204 pounds.

Then you need to work on your listening skills. Any injury is unlucky really.

We should be concerned about Ullmark then too, being that he's had to have double hip surgery already and is only 22. Yet nobody is "concerned" about his injury history like they are Lehner's.

- HonkFortheGoose

i actually am concerned about Ullmark.. that is the same thing that railroaded Double Penetrations career

You can be concerned about Ullmark, because Ullmark wasn't brought in by Tim Murray, so there isn't a need to defend him at all costs

I'm sure he will bulk up. But you can ask Edmonton fans, they're biggest concern about McDavid was staying healthy playing against men.

Exactly. He's going to continue to put on some muscle over the next few years. I'm pretty sure Eichel was under 200 until he put 10 lbs of muscle on over the summer.

(which BTW is ridiculous)

That's a concern for any 18 year old though. It was the same thing we said about Reinhart last year.

McDavid's injury was crappy. That's for sure. I was enjoying watching him play. But you can't expect any player (over 200lbs or not) to go crashing into the boards the way he did as fast as he did with about 400 lbs of other players on him and expect him to come away unscathed.

Injuries suck. But they happen. Even if they made the sport non contact there would still be injuries.

Hell, Hossa pulled his groin when he was playing for Atlanta during a morning skate because the ice conditions were less than favorable.

Waste of a first round pick. Hes only a couple years younger than Kane but been hurt 3 times, hasnt even sniffed 30 goals, and has almost zero points this year. Bustensons!

I'm really joking, but saying it out loud makes you think....Grigo has how many points in the last 7 games?

This is where having a good farm system helps, because at some point in the season you'll need to have guys filling in for those injured. This is where we're currently a bit thin, IMO. But since this year was about improving and not being a Cup contender, it's not a huge deal. It's worrisome, but not exactly catastrophic.

Six - but he got three all in one night.

But he wasn't selected by Terry Murray so we don't have to defend him to the bitter end.
