The only 2 players that can make that claim are Ehlers and Mcdavid.
Virtanen...... Not even close - classic321
Respectfully disagree. I watched him play his three seasons with the Hitmen here can't see what else he will learn there. Utica perhaps for sure there can be some stuff learned there but sending him back to junior is detrimental to his development at this stage IMO. |

yeah I would put that malkin trade as possibly the worst yet !! I think some of foscos trades when he quit were better! |
|
|
|
I don't see that happening with TD, but it is a possibility with BB.
I think him and Hunter could probably step in next year, but it's up to BB to decide if he wants to sign his contract, and turn pro. - Gullzy
That sure would be a huge disappointment if it happens. IMO the league needs to step in and protect teams draft picks . Maybe make it that the drafting team holds the rights for 6 years. |

I made him a decent offer for Malkin a while ago and he came back with OVI Karlsen Kesler and my 1st as his counter for just Malkin. Games are being played. |

With that one and the Lundquist one.... You have to wonder. |

Scooby was right about this keeper league. It needs to be altered. Maybe keeping 3 forwards 2 Dmen and 1 goalie at the end of the year and everyone else is eligible for redraft |

Just wanted to join the JV discussion.
I thought he should have gone back to jr after the trial but after 20 games, I've changed my mind. I don't necessarily believe that he has shown that he is an everyday player.... yet but don't think that he's hurting the team either (as another poster said).
Of course he will make mistakes and inevitably some of those mistakes will cost the team goals and even some games. However, I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. He is learning how to be a pro. Learning to be a pro means that he is learning what it takes to be consistent (every shift and every game) but it also means learning how good other teams' forwards, d and goalies are. As a high draft pick, he is learning that even scrubs can play the game at this level.
With respect to the confidence issue, I don't think that is a major concern. I say that b/c he hasn't had a lot of pressure placed on him. He isn't Connor McJesus and he isn't treated as such. The bouncing from the press box to the lineup is a good thing imo. Also, when he struggles, he has excellent people to go to for advice. Horvat struggled at times last year (as well as this year.) And if you want the gold standard in learning how to deal with adversity (and pressure), he has the Sedins to turn to. He can look at them and see that not only does success not have to come quickly but it also comes through extremely hard work on and off the ice. When the 35 year olds are the best conditioned and hardest workers on the team, that rubs off (at least imo).
He is not in the same situation as Brule or Turris (or several others) who were set up to be "team changers." His role is limited which limits some of the pressure/expectation.
Anyway, if he's sent down, i won't go batsh!t but would rather him stay up. This team is not expected to do much (at least from me) so I can live with the growing pains of the youngsters. What they are learning now will pay off in a few years.

I disagree. His transition after one more year of Junior to the NHL would be NO different than what it is right now. So he plays 20 minutes a night again this year like he did last year, against worse competition and younger kids.. He has nothing more to gain from junior... His offensive game dipped because he had shoulder surgery, new line mates, etc. The more he is around pro's, sees first hand what the sedin's do on and off the ice + in the off season is the best thing for him. IMO - Codes1087
Sitting right next to the Sedins in the dressing room and having professional trainers and nutritionists working with him everyday, he wont get any of that in Jr. |

Media anyway, they always argue the other side, the other option.
Kids out there late in the game? why is WD setting them up for failure, too much pressure, blah... sitting in the third, how are they supposed to learn and develop unless they are exposed to these situations?
as long as it is a similar development plan to Bo's, I can live with it. - hillbillydeluxe
This years rookies were getting more ice time than Bo was last season if you you use the first 20 games as a sample size. |

1 yera after decides to go pro, that way they miss an entire year before they can sign as a UFA, or keep them as RFA until 27. |

Could not agree more. Benning and Linden and all the staff have him and the other rookies on a short leash and can monitor them and keep them in check. |

Benning said this morning , the Sedins called JV and JM into a closed door meeting a few days ago, just the 4 of them and talked for about 10-15 minutes . You won't get that experience in JR. |

That's exactly the type of stuff that they need. IF Jake started to get lazy and actually gained BAD weight like Burrows claimed in the video, its stuff like that which needs to be nipped in the butt early. Sedins are the perfect mentors as well. |
