Sedins are kicking butt right now... Dank is 4th in the league in points and Hank is 11th... Those two aren't going anywhere at anytime.
Burrows has a year left and may go.
Hansen has moved up the depth chart not just cuz others have regressed, but he's gotten smarter and has more finish than 2012.
Hamhuis is gonna go...
Edler won't waive for anything.
Higgins will be gone.
Tanev is a top four and young, so he's not going anywhere, unless it's a trade.
How do you propose to get the old group to go? most of the guys from 2011 are already gone... - kaptaan
Bring back Torts and we will get high draft picks and Edler will waive |

Thoughts on next year? I am on the fence on this move, but picking up Luke Schenn as a 6/7 D for < 2 mil per year 2 year trial. We need a RHD . He is an adventure and has played on crappy teams. Maybe with the guidance of HHOF Sbisa he could find chemistry |

Its funny 2 and 3 years ago I never worried about our Defence. Now we have Sbisa and Tanev. Hamster and Edler are really showing their regression. If Benji was a going to make a move it should be for Hamonic. |

I am going to rain on the parade.
Sedins are having a fabulous year. Hansen having his best year. Sbisa is playing well above expectations, and Sutter looks good for our future.
After that there is little to cheer for.
Our core is moldy and soft. We are still playing a perimeter game. Our youngsters are learning how to play hockey the wrong way.
WD is killing the confidence of the kids. Never letting them be themselves with an up beat game, and surrounding them with plugs.
Someone said Jake is slowing down with his hits. Every time he makes a big hit he gets attacked by two players as his chickensh1t team mates stand by and watch. Same with Sbisa
The PP is basically useless for years because it is easy to defend against 5 guys playing on the outside that cant shoot.
I am beginning to think WD is a wrong fit and doesn't know much.
We are a bubble team, but we still have the same problems since 2012. That group needs to go - VANTEL
#1 - there is no parade...that I know of anyways. Expectations are low this year, I'd like then to win every game but understand if they lose it helps our draft position. We all knew this is a team in transition. I predicted at the beginning of the season this is a 90 or early 90's point team...which looks to be somewhat accurate.
Who exactly do you consider the "core" that you keep bringing up? To me a core of players is what you're either building around or your best players. So the Sedins, Horvat, Edler and Tanev would currently be their core of players.
Burrows, Higgins and Vrbata are not core players IMO, they'll be gone sooner than later.
The game against Dallas is a prime example of the team not being bad enough to be at the bottom but to just be good enough to hang with some good teams and collect points. |

Hamonic will cost Tanev , and I am fine with that . He is an upgrade.

That would require assets we can't afford to move, one step back one step forward. Gonna have to be patient and draft our own team or go with free agency. |

I think it would cost Tanev +, which is why I don't think it's worth it. I know Grenier was brought up earlier but I don't see the Islanders interested in a 24 year old late round pick AHL'er. |

I was referring to the old core.
Sad but true about not being bad or good enough. I like the expression sh1t or get off the pot. Do one or the other, don't sit and do nothing.
Benning said the other day the Twins will retire Canucks , that is now a dead issue for me.
Vrbata Hammer Higgins Burrows Cracknel Dorsett Prust Weber Miller are the ones that need to be moved out |

Edler Tanev
Sbisa Hutton

I agree those guys need to go, but remember, this is a cap world, you can't just make contracts disappear. I'm hopeful by April at least 50% of those guys are gone.
IMO - Vrbata, Hamhuis, Higgins, Prust and Weber won't be on the team next year. Cracknell is just a fill-in, won't be back either. Miller will be phased out, although he's still playing well, it's Markstroms time shortly! |

I still say I was right to bring in Gaunce putt Higgins on waivers at the start of the year |

I know but I prefer Vantel's $hit or get off the pot mode of thinking. |

Minnesota changed their whole complexion in one year by adding Sutter and Parise. They had a bunch of good young players to add to the mix.
They spent 10 mil per on both of them. Those type of contracts are now banned, but we can still go out and get two impact players . |

This has to be the year for wholesale change. It is down to the Sedins last kick at the can. If they can maintain this pace for two more years and we can bring in a little more grit and skill. We can take a run at this baby. |
