Actually, here's a correction, Weber and Suter form the best pairing in the league. - Mr_Clean
They used to but I get that this is more trying to insult me than anything else. |

Illogical is a stretch, they've played a ton over the better part of a decade. I get that they haven't played a lot together, so far this season, but they are always thrown together when needed as was demonstrated Friday in Anaheim.
Come playoff time, they will be slapped together again when needed, as they have a familiarity level that few other pairings league-wide, do.
For my money, regardless of how little they have been paired together this season, they are the best possible defensive combination around the NHL today. - MidnightMarauder
So they are currently the best because of past accomplishments? I get what you're saying and I don't fully disagree, they are DOMINANT when together. But so far this year that isn't happening very often. I think there are other pairings who are currently more deserving. |

Fair enough, my point though, when push comes to shove what two defensemen, on the same team, would you want out there in crunchtime?
Hedman-Stralman are awesome together and so are Josi and Weber, but come playoff time, I trust the two in Chicago more than any other in the league currently. |

You gotta watch Stralman more man. The guy might not be flashy but he's one the smartest D-men out there and he has the ability to play against top line forwards on a nightly basis. I think Stralman is simply underrated cause he's always played with big names. |

Also not playing together.
I'd say it's a toss up between Keith -Seabrook & Josi-Weber |

I'm sure he was somehow wanting to say OEL & Gardiner, but couldn't past them being on different teams.
For that matter, I'm somewhat surprised Tanner didn't say OEL & Grossman, because OEL is so much better than any other D-man in hockey that he can be played with an anchor like Grossman and still be the greatest defensive pair in hockey

Bc the coach is smart enough to realize that his dmen are not as strong as last year, but the fact is, they've been paired mostly their entire career.... And when it matters most.... - Ur Not Me
Right..."most of their careers"...which is not this year. I didn't realize the question was, "Who is the best pair in the NHL for the majority of their careers that are still both playing?" |

If the question is "What team has the best one-two punch on defense?" then it's easily Chicago. |
