Nailed it.
So many new players, it was tough for me to have expectations. But Ennis was one i at least expected to play like last year. Wondering if he was playing injured and finally decided to throw in the towel on the injury?

So we're a bit past the quarter pole but who would be your pick for the following:

Most improved?

Most valuable?

Biggest surprise?

Biggest disappointment?

- mhp

Reinhart as most improved
O'Reilly is most valuable
Gorges as biggest surprise (playing top line minutes, even +/-, and after a sup par performance last year he has been quietly one of the best players on the team)
Ennis so far is the biggest dissapointment.

I kinda expected Risto to be awesome. Reinhart has really impressed me with his improvements. I was getting a little worried that we picked the wrong guy at #2.

I was looking at stats so far this year for some of our prospects and just wanted to pass along a few guys who seem to making nice improvements.

Fasching- 10 games for UM, 4g and 4 a, 8 pts. Will he be in Rochester next year?
Karabacek- 22 games in the Q, 8g and 7 a, 15 pts.
Johansson- 22 games for Almtuna in the SL, 2.46 gaa, .912 and 2 shutouts
Florentino- 10 games at Providence, 3 g and 2a.
Martin- 25 games for Saskatoon, 3 g and 21a.
Cornel- 27 games for Peterborough, 13 g and 17 a.
Estephan- 26 games for Lethbridge, 9 g and 20 a.
Guhle- 19 games for Prince Albert, 2 g and 6 a

If Lehner isn't hurt and he plays poorly, you could make a case there.

We probably still did pick the wrong guy.

Leon Draisaitl is far and away a better player than Reinhart at this point

He should be playing with Hopkins and Hall. Give it some time.

He doesn't play with Nugent Hopkins.

Reinhart gets #1 pp time. He's getting better every game, but if anyone in their right mind thinks Reinhart has been better than Draisaitl they are delusional

Fasching and the 3 d are far and away the most important for me. The other ones are meh. It sure would be nice if baptiste, bailey, and/or fasching was able to make the jump and help out the top six on the right side. Obviously fasching is a couple years behind of course.

I think so too

I'm beginning to wonder if the strengths of Ennis and Girgensons were most evident in a "try hard" pond hockey style - but require some adaptation to flourish in a more structured system. The Lion is someone who succeeds primarily through sheer will; and Ennis' jitterbugging doesnt necessarily lend itself to a coordinated team wide effort.

I could care less who the better rookie is. I care about career and if Reinhart helps us win a cup. I have no problem with how Reinhart looks.

Also, good opening drive by Tyrod.

I was pissed when Myers was traded too. But I have moved on . You look for any negative you can here. Draisatil is playing well but I will still take Reinhart . His ice smarts are amazing . This kid is going to be a big star in this league. Draitsatl should be good as well . But Reinhart's play away from the puck and at both ends of the ice is what impresses me.

Drop a pin on it...here starts the traditional unraveling in another key game. Some things never change.
