goaltending is not an issue. some have called for moving neuvirth, i guess to get some help elsewhere. me? he's going nowhere. - hammarby31
Trading Neuvirth would be insane as they both seem to bring the best out in each other. The competition is good and Mace had a lot of weird injuries last year and it is still early. I hope he is fine and they both keep getting wins.

I understand the argument for trading Neuvirth, but I don't know who you bring in to back up Mason if you do that. Jason LaBarbera? I don't think so.
And I haven't exactly gotten warm and fuzzy that Stolarz is all that ready even for NHL backup duty. - johndewar
there's no reason to move him. nothing they bring in return would equal the value he provides in goal...in my opinion. he's been stellar all year. they need to find another way to fix the broken parts...the biggest way they'll do that is with time.
stolarz has had a solid year from what i've read. you're just looking for solid progress and i think that's happening.

thanks for posting that
I didn't know that about his Dad and I'm worried for him about what might be going on with his family with his trade request
hockey players are the best, and Hamonic is right at the top - Marc D
Great watch. And you have to believe he has a real reason for asking to be traded out near his home. Too standup a guy to make that request willy nilly

I actually hope he just takes a leave of absence to be with his family and then returns to the Islanders when the situation resolves.
I like watching him play 5 games a year in our conference.
Cousins, Laughton, and Colin MacDonald are a pretty good 4th line right now.
We have an abundance of good 4th liners!
Guys like Raffl, I'm not calling him a "4th liner", but on a championship team like Chicago, that's exactly where he'd fit. - Marc D
Agreed on all points. Raffl works hard, and he will score again, but it just might be that last year was the aberration and we have to accept that 20 goals, maybe even 12-15, isn't what Raffl is
Playing a few NHL games is no threat to his future development. He may make some mistakes and he may need some more AHL time, but one thing is for certain, he's not going to get pushed around. It would be nice to have a guy like Morin around, guys like him have a way of making the entire team play "bigger"
While the day of the goon is over (good riddance), huge dmen, with decent wheels and skills and a wide mean streak, will always be in demand.

That's what I was thinking with Leier & Cousins example. Get him up, play 5-10 games, bring up Hagg, get them a taste

I have no problem with a 1a or 1b plan in terms of the goaltending, but I do wish Mason or Nuveirth would grab the bull by the horns and try and take over as starter. Obviously with back to back over the weekend you give each a start, but it seems it has been awhile since either goalie got consecutive starts. Unless I'm forgetting something?
And to echo the sentiment of Medvedev, keep him in the lineup. Guy can make and create plays.
