I think the lack of hats is not hard to fathom. It's a question of economics. The canucks and NHL has created this situation by draining money from fans in attendance. Whether it's $10 hotdogs to $350 seats in lower bowl. Plus have you seen the cost of canuck merchandise?

It's easy for journalists to question why did this happen when they don't pay for anything when in the building including food. I think they forget the financial burden of fans these days...

I'm not a big fan of pointing fingers at the fan base because I think the fans have done a great job supporting this franchise through all their (frank) ups, implosions, and mismanagement.

I am still feeling(look I have feelings too, who knew ?!) like the team has been on the Sedin's backs for scoring which we all know is unsustainable. I also have no nice things to say about our second line... and so this was my suggestion. I think Sutter up the middle will stabilize our GA's a bit. I think that road trip has skewed our GA's, but I could be wrong.

carol, I think the difference with the hat trick in toronto is simple.... since when in the last 15 years have leaf fans had a single thing to be excited about? They are so starved for it! Given the chance they are going to rejoice like they just won the lottery.

But there are also those people in the stands of van that dont even know what a hat trick is too. I've heard these people just about any game I've gone to....clearly dont know hockey. When the puck is merely dumped into the oppositions corner they're "ohhhhhh, it almost went in, soooo close" and youre wondering "what game are they watching? not this one."

Not to say people in toronto know hockey better because thats clearly not the case after seeing some prize winning posts here on hockeybuzz. More that in order to get tickets in TO you have to scrape and claw. More passionate people will do it, the fickle will not. Vancouver has passionate fans yes, many who will watch it on TV. But it's games here I've noticed are full of high roller wanna-be snobs that merely seem to go to games to brag the next day about how much they spent at the game (and after the game) and not so much about the actual game at all. I've heard it on many occasions.

When watching a game on TV how many times do you see a play and the fans in the 1st couple rows are clearly completely absorbed by their cell phone and oblivious to the goal / fight / amazing play they missed right in front of them? I can't recall a single game that I HAVENT seen that.

What i have heard from individuals at the game, which makes sense, was there was confusion on who scored the goal. No one realized it was Daniel until the goal was announced after the play had restarted. By that point it was too late to throw hats. No biggy....

Ok, not hats were thrown. Probably the biggest issue with the franchise. Now can we discuss Miller vs Lack?
