You knobs didn't watch the Grey Cup? It was a classic. Eskies are number 1!

You don't want to confuse the Oilers. It was a good game though. |

Regarding Shark Week...
I did Guadalupe Island this past August and it was crazy. Great Whites everywhere. I grabbed the pectoral fin of one big male as he swam by the cage. Not supposed to but it was a thrill. I’ll post some pictures sometime.
If anyone’s interested in knowing more it’s real easy to do it. Costs about $3,500 CDN for a 5 day live aboard everything included except booze.

That sounds wicked but I'm going to Hellfest in France this summer. Turbonegro is on the bill and hopefully I can a few shows of theirs around Europe. Priorities, man. |

Each half was a completely different game but Edmonton was clearly the better team. |

You're inner struggle is pretty funny. "Must defend Canuck fans, but the only possible explanation makes them sound like drooling social media addicted idiots."
I found it pretty embarrassing myself. I don't know how many people in the lower bowl actually paid for their seats; I never have. A forty dollar sacrifice to the hat trick gods seems pretty reasonable when you're at the game for free, particularly when it's for a player like D Sedin. But nothing was lit on fire, so ultimately it ranks pretty low on the Canuck fan embarrassment scale. - CubanBuffet
You are correct. Surely, this can't be my breaking point? Is this the proverbial straw... I was so high during the 2011 run and now 4 seasons later I'm about to implode with frustration for this franchise.
I just hope they have an awesome draft so I can get back in on the circle jerk. At this point I think it's the only thing that will make me feel a bit positive about my team. |

Nice one. I'm working on a Le Vieux Pin petit rouge. It's passable, but not amazing. |

Two good drafts in a row and all the kids in the lineup can't convince you things are about to get better? |

How could people not know who scored the goals for their team in a game they are attending? Are they at the game for the hotdogs only or are most people in the lower bowl (frank)ing idiots? - bloatedmosquito
There are 5 Hot Dogs to choose from that takes up way to much brain power.
My take is that the fans are trying to..........oh what the hell I don't (frank)ing care, it's a really stupid subject, we should be talking about the Ducks tomorrow, what team will blow the bigger lead? or what team will just blow. |

The frustrating thing is that in this case it was the fans failing to celebrate one of the few bright spots. I wouldn't put money on the Canucks making the playoffs, but the Sedins are killing it and Daniel in particular looks like he's found another level.

There is no saving him, he savored every game of the cup run and less than 5 years later he's begging a great white to take his arm off, he's given up on life. |

I was thinking about this topic this weekend after reading the different threads.
Are our young stars truly talented, talented enough to eventually make a meaningful impact, or are we just not accustomed to what a true young star looks like? I like Horvat, McCann, Virtanen, and Hutton but are we looking at the next canuck core or are they just serviceable NHLers?

It's subjective, it really depends on what your definition of "star" is. I think they've definitely drafted some talented players who's impacts will be felt three or four years down the road. You don't have to be a superstar to be an impactful top six NHL player.
If you look at the second tier top six forwards in the the NHL (non Crosby, Ovechkin, Stamkos, Malkin players) and what their junior careers and early NHL careers started out like it sheds some light on how difficult it is to establish yourself early in your career. I think Joe Thornton had three goals & seven points in his first year?
Derek Dorsett is a "serviceable" nhler. |

Awesome blog Carol, thanks for the updates on two great prospects. When and where can we start that petition to stop playing that Coyotes goal song after each goal, it is plain sickening, leave that in the desert. I mean I would rather fire a cannon like in Columbus but that Coyote one almost makes me wish they don't score, lol |

Look at the Sedin's trajectory. Despite a lot of headlines around how they were acquired, no one would have called them superstars in their first couple of seasons, but they got there. |
