Nice one. I'm working on a Le Vieux Pin petit rouge. It's passable, but not amazing.

There are 5 Hot Dogs to choose from that takes up way to much brain power.

My take is that the fans are trying to..........oh what the hell I don't (frank)ing care, it's a really stupid subject, we should be talking about the Ducks tomorrow, what team will blow the bigger lead? or what team will just blow.

- A_SteamingLombardi

True. Just finding another subject than Sbisa stinks or does he, Sutter missed, twins disrespected, WD mistakes, anything Higgins related, etc.

Oh Higgins.

That's a lot of code for such a small picture! Check it out.

Edit: Best intro song to any TV show ever.

It's subjective, it really depends on what your definition of "star" is. I think they've definitely drafted some talented players who's impacts will be felt three or four years down the road. You don't have to be a superstar to be an impactful top six NHL player.

If you look at the second tier top six forwards in the the NHL (non Crosby, Ovechkin, Stamkos, Malkin players) and what their junior careers and early NHL careers started out like it sheds some light on how difficult it is to establish yourself early in your career. I think Joe Thornton had three goals & seven points in his first year?

Derek Dorsett is a "serviceable" nhler.

- LeftCoaster

I couldn't expect drafting an Ovechkin, Stamkos or even Thornton. Yes Thornton had 7 points in 55 games but he followed that up with seasons of 41, 60, 71, and 101. He was almost a point a game player after his rookie season. Amazing. Generational players.

I think a young star is a player who comes in and makes a difference right away and making a measurable difference to the wins column. Not generational just a difference maker. Our young guys are making a difference but they are doing it on a bad team. I think that might be misleading. Maybe.

Dorsett had 25 points last season. That's not bad. I hope our young guys will become consistent 30 - 40+ point getters regardless of the poopty team built around them (not saying it is now). I think Dorsett will have a great career and will help any team he's on but I wouldn't want to bet my teams future on players like him. Heres to crossing fingers.

Just rambling on...

I wanted to clarify my statement regarding the definition of young stars making a difference and our young players making a difference on a bad team.

Horvat and McCann are projected to get 30 points each I think. Great. That’s making a small difference compared to their team mates. But that’s still contributing to a canucks record of 9-8-7. That’s an 84 point season.

I’m happy with that because it will increase our odds in the lottery but how do we judge these “next generation” players when the team is going through so much transition? Oiler fan probably has had the same questions as many other team fans.

Back to my original question of core or role players? Subjective I know...

Hard to judge players in only their rookie or sophmore years with the team. They haven't hit their so-called prime yet. Potential can be nebulous, it's why some 7th round picks become superstars even though they were considered extreme long-term projects. Besides, what are "Core" and what are "Role" players? Does it even matter? You have to play the hand that you're dealt anyways. Some teams build around 1 or two generational talents, others around a Norris-caliber #1 D-man, another might build around the best goaltender in the league. It's all a matter of what works, if a team wins but doesn't score a lot of goals, is that any less valid then a team that scores in bunches, has a player that earns the Art Ross/Rocket Richard trophys, and wins?

No CFL for me

Grey Cup game was actually pretty good. I don't watch CFL much anymore either but it was good to see Reilly get the Grey Cup I liked him when he played for the Lions.

You knobs didn't watch the Grey Cup? It was a classic. Eskies are number 1!
We can put the city of Champions signs back up!

Better off putting up 'city of top ten draft picks'.

Best way to start monday is to have your kid crawl in your bed and tell you he doesn't feel good and then proceed to puke all over you in your own bed.

Byfuglien is looking for 6.75 mil per which is understandable , but he wants 6-8 years

Wow if it was 4-5 years at 6mil per it might be doable...but we can't touch those numbers. There aint enough A&Ws in Van to satisfy Byfatlins appetite for that.

Carol. Love your stuff and always enjoy your take on things. Week 2 of the Vancouver Hat-Trick Syndrome. I also get that feeling about Boeser. I hate to say it but I also see McCann as someone who will choose to move on when he Cann. Also just a feeling.
- bazz

What makes you think that McCan will move on when he can?
