I think the lack of hats is not hard to fathom. It's a question of economics. The canucks and NHL has created this situation by draining money from fans in attendance. Whether it's $10 hotdogs to $350 seats in lower bowl. Plus have you seen the cost of canuck merchandise?
It's easy for journalists to question why did this happen when they don't pay for anything when in the building including food. I think they forget the financial burden of fans these days...

I was at that game... I was being encouraged by the row below me (who were wearing New Era Boston Red Sox hats) to throw my Canucks bonnet which I had bought as I walked into the arena. Only problem - I am in the upper balcony and the hat would have simply changed owners never to kiss the ice surface from the distance I sat from the playing surface.
Ironically, the paying customers in the Lower Bowl had perhaps a 1 in 5 ratio of hat wearing candidates. I felt much the same as Carol and frankly I felt badly for Daniel who deserved more respect. But then this is the new era of a total lack of respect for the Sedin borhters despite the prominence they have played in the scoring for the Canucks.
The Vancouver Canucks club themselves are partially to blame. Is there nobody inside the staff in charge of the Jumbo Tron who could have a Canned Hat Trick theme ready to go at the push of a button??? There was no emphasis even fromthe PA announcer to shout "HAAAAAAATTTT TTTTRRRRIIIICCCKKKK"
Yes the lower bowl patrons who can clearly afford to toss a $30 hat are to be shamed ... I would suggest their largely cultural ignorance of the tradition may have something to do with it... Suits and otherwise.
Go Canucks Go Sedins LOL
