No doubt. For the Chad Johnson love, my only real beef is he has a tendency to give up soft goals early. Other than that, hard to complain after this weekend.

Not to take away anything from CJ, he's been good but full credit to the team for playing a bit tighter defensively. They still give up quite a few shots and shot attempts but drastically reduced the number of high quality chances against. I think that's less Bylsma and more Terry Murray.

I have noticed that our defense isn't that active as far as pinching or jumping up into the play. That probably helps prevent quality chances at both ends

I agree, except maybe the top pair. Haven't noticed it much lately but it sure looks like they've give Risto carte blanche out there.

Feel like for now it's a good thing. Not the most talented defense and the ones with talent are still young. Safe plays for them, let the offense do a little extra work. Later on down the line you can be more aggressive.

It's slow here with an hour left before I go home, Sabres win tomorrow and they could be 3 points out of a playoff spot.

Getting to .500 would be a good start. The schedule seems to open up a bit now, so a good of a time as any to make up some ground. Not that I'm expecting it, would just be a nice treat

The defense hasn't been an issue though. Even before they tightened things up recently. The offense has struggled much more than the defense this year, IMO. And with the exception of O'Reilly, our most talented forwards are younger than our most talented defensemen.
