Well they have an asset in Bernier...how much of one now...no one knows. If they want any chance at trading him, they need him to improve.
So he'll need to play more than one game every ten or so.
Sending him down probably wont help him, as the AHL is usually harder on goalies.

yeah.. i am genuinely curious how babcock handles this

he wants to win

and i doubt the skaters have much faith in bernier atm, we know the coach doesnt.

so how does he get back into the crease?

Did he actually say that?
- walshyleafsfan

I dont know what the specific question was, but it was reported that he responded "no comment"
I understand you're pissed or worried......but "no comment"? Not acceptable in my mind.

Still, no excuse IMO.
Be a good teammate and NHL "Vet", little things like that can help him keep his career.
He's really starting to annoy me.

meanwhile James was at the dressing room door waiting to congratulate him...just like he did to support bernier when he lost the starting job to bernier...a true team player

bye bye bernier

- jimi james

that's what Burn was saying as well.
Reims is good guy...never been an issue

I would think the leafs still want something for him. A 9 game stretch is not worth giving him away.........just yet.

That's a good question.
But the reality is, I think you send Sparks back down....maybe give him another game. Let him know how well he did and to keep his work ethic up and that he could be back up soon.
Give Bernier a couple of starts to see what is what. I know babs wants to win....heck so do I, but its a write off year. Just hope Bernier improves and gets his confidence back.

But dont sit Reimer more than 2 games straight. Gotta keep him warm.

Not to long ago this is what happen to Reimer. This will test Bernier in a way that he hasn't been tested.

The other players could hear him practising for his new job. " Would you like fries with that " He kept repeating.

Meh, last two - three months of the season both goalies and the team were complete crap.
Bernier had a good start last year, heck even first half.

Worst thing that could ever have happened. A shut out against the worst team in the league who is missing their ace rookie on the road.

But everyone will forget that.

Expectations will be Skyhigh.

And......

His numbers have been trending down at an alarming rate. He's been below average statistically (by a lot) for a long time.

And at the time Reimer didnt have the technical skill, but he had heart. Sot that got him through.
Until this off season.
Im honestly seeing a different goalie in Reimer this year. He's playing like the type of goalie that Reimer fans dreamt they were seeing the past several years.

Reimer has improved his game alot.

Still don't know. Babcock said last night Reimer on Wednesday if he's healthy, if not sparks. Bernier not even in the equation.

Man the oilers suck

The superstars 1st overalls, all play like Kessel, except with less heart.

Draisatl plays with a little energy though and McDavid seemed to make a difference to the team when he was in the lineup.

But yeah, it is time to remove that "untouchable" label from most of them. At this point, I think Draisatl, McDavid and Nurse would be the only untouchables. RNH, Eberle, Hall, Yak can all be dealt.

Not really. Outside of this season.
Bernier:
2014 - 2.68 and .923
2013 - 2.87 and .912

Reimer
2014 - 3.16 and .907
2013 - 3.29 and .911

So if Bernier's have been below average then Reims have been horrible?
Alarming rate is a very exaggerated term.
