Give it up Bix.

No sense debating this one.

One of two things will happen. He will start to produce, or eventually people will be forced to agree that this pace of getting points is really only acceptable for a 4th liner.

Didn't he score last night?

I think you're missing the six seasons before he nearly retired where he was over a ppg and very much an offensive force. i.e. 50 goals.
- mykokes

Komagod 18th overall for goals scored - give him time

Leafs did it with Tellqvist a while back.

I have a feeling once Reimer is healthy, Bernier might see a pretty big period of inactivity.

the only thing i wonder is if he's dressed but not playing, and how that counts.

I disagree, keep him for good.

He obviously shown he can play anywhere in the lineup.

I have the crush on him like you have on Kadri

Watching last nights game and the Oilers play away from the puck, defense does not seem to be the problem unless were talking team defense. There just seems to be zero structure and a lot of guys holding onto the puck too long. It also could have just been an off night but the shot attempts from the Oil were, 1) weak shot at a bad angle or 2) skate behind the net and blindly throw it in front. EVERY TIME.

I was shocked that no one stood out for them either. Hell, I think Purcell was their best FWD out there.

Nurse is going to be damn good.

And of course, Rielly's acceleration

It's interesting that Kadri's linemates in the past when they're scoring have a high shooting percentage. Frattin comes to mind. Same with MacArthur when he was with Kadri. Lupul too.

It's more interesting to look at how many assists Kadri is getting lately.

True. His ice-time is also getting cut back. I still think he';ll bounce back offensively, but yeah, looking at his game by game, there is cause for concern now.

You and bixx have a point. I see that now.

The thing I find weird is that while Komarov is leading the team in goals, and JVR is leading the team in points, Kadri isn't even putting up many assists.

Guy's always been a good playmaker.

Not going down this rat hole with you.

You think his play justifies the lack of production.

I don't.

We aren't going to change each other's mind, so we might as well discuss different topics.

well it's based on performance and not inactivity... so the NHL would decide otherwise, i assume.
- DoubleDown

We went through this a couple of weeks ago with Pinata John - sending a healthy guy down for a conditioning stint may not be within the spirit of the rule book, but there's nothing technically wrong with it, so the league has to hold their collective noses and allow it.

I think this is all a moot point, anyways: if the Leafs decide to send Bernier to the minors, they will put him through waivers - and hope somebody claims him.

Oh, and nobody will claim him.

if you watch the PP goal Kom scored
Kadri digs the puck along the boards with 2 oilers on either side of him to get the puck to the point to Dion..who then slides it to Froese who shoots..redirected by Kom.

that doesnt get you an assist.

His play indicates the results should be better.

But the results are still pretty poope.

Something's clearly not clicking for him right now, but that's why people are saying he's underperforming, because everybody knows he can do better.

For goaltenders, players are exempt for:

signed at 18: exempt for 6 years after signing or 80 NHL games
signed at 19: exempt for 5 years or 160 NHL games
signed at 20: exempt for 4 years or 80 NHL games
signed at 21: exempt for 4 years or 80 NHL games
signed at 22: exempt for 4 years or 60 NHL games
signed at 23: exempt for 3 years or 60 NHL games
signed at 24: exempt for 2 years or 60 NHL games
signed at 25 or older: exempt for 1 year regardless of games played

13.8 Conditioning Loan. Unless a Player consents, he shall not be Loaned on a Conditioning Loan to a minor league club. Such Conditioning Loan shall not extend for more than fourteen (14) consecutive days. The Commissioner may take whatever steps he deems necessary to investigate the circumstances under which a Player is Loaned on a Conditioning Loan. If the Commissioner has reason to believe or determines that the Club has used the Conditioning Loan to evade the Re-Entry Waivers, or otherwise Circumvent any provision of this Agreement, he may take such disciplinary action against the Club, as he deems appropriate. The Player shall continue, during the period of such Conditioning Loan, to receive the same Paragraph 1 NHL Salary, and be entitled to the same benefits, that he would have received had he continued to play with the Club.

i agree with this logic. but there are two kinds of healthy guys: the healthy guy who has been scratched for 17 consecutive games and the healthy guy who has been playing pretty regularly and been objectively terrible, and i think the NHL would make a distinction between the two.

Yeah, it is tough to imagine team taking that contract given his performance, not just this year. He was not very good most of last year.

Tough to figure out what his future looks like at this point.
