There's been a lot of poor decisions made along the way but in general they just want hockey to be perceived as a tough sport. I'm sure through focus groups and the like they know that is a part of what sells the game. I guess little punches to a star player are ok as long as they don't look like they are going for a KO lol.

At what point does the potential for future player lawsuits outweigh everything else though? No doubt they have not been protecting the players properly.
