It's definitely worth a shot, but I'm not holding my breath. Mariota would have been perfect, better passer than Kap and also one of the fastest QB's in the league.

I'm convinced Mariota was the real endgame and not getting Sam Bradford. Tennessee (rightfully) wanted the farm for him, because I think he's the real deal.

So, Laughton's line got 6 min even strength. All 3 team lows. Next lowest player on the team? Voracek. Somehow he registered a minute and a half less than PEB and VDV.

Schenn and Medvedev got blitzkrieg bopped in possession: team worsts. It felt that way tbh. Lots of zone time hemmed in. Yikes. Thought Manning actually played well. And I don't like him so...credit. Second line again best possession line. Doing it every (frank)ing game against top competition is no joke. Happy patience is paying off for them in the score sheet. God knows they've earned it.

I think that it's time to move Jake back to G's line, get Schenn or Raffl with the Phantoms kids, or even put both with Cousins and bump Laughton to the top line.

Schenn & Medvedev didn't really mesh, and the turnover on the second goal, that Medvedev got lambasted for was bad, but Laughton coasted to get to the wall, and Cousins was slow to pick up Smith before the goal.

Still dominance by the second line, excellent work on the PK and Mason shutting the door in the third...it's a good win.

Strategically, I agree with moving Jake back with G.

However....short term.....do we wait for a loss to actually pull the trigger on that? I think Hakstol has to ride this out.

It does give teams something to worry about on what has, functionally, become their 3rd line.

Question is, is it the right use of Jake Voracek? Probably not. At least not long term.

Hakstol strikes me as a stick to it if we win type guy. Which makes sense only if what you're sticking with did well. The Voracek Third Line Triumvirate has been a disaster since it was assembled while wasting the best winger on the team. I've never been a fan of not making changes after a win. Sometimes you won in spite of a thing. This has been true every game during the 3 game win streak for Jake and Co.

I don't think that's just Hakstol.....that's most coaches in almost every sport.

I don't disagree with you; I just don't think coaches get in the habit of making changes when things are good.

Ottawa has some good offense, and good goaltending, but defensively, they're not good. Karlsson is dynamic with the puck, but his effort to get back on the Simmonds goal was pathetic to put it kindly. That has to make a coach irate.

Former Noris winning effort, am I right?

Instead of paying attention to Karlsson, which wasn't him at his best, watch what Mark Stone, the player covering for him did. He bears the brunt of the blame for that goal.

Watching how Hoffman skates and seeing those tweets from Bill about how he was in Flyers rookie camp in 2008, I wanted to punch myself in the face.

Yeah, I doubt there's any changes until they lose.

Stone isn't at fault, he tried to check Couturier off in the neutral zone, and tried to deflect the cross ice pass, that was his job. He at least made an effort. Karlsson could've easily gotten back with his speed to get to Simmonds.
