What if the price as Morin, Konecny, and one of 2016 or 2017 1st? - jmatchett383
Well obviously not that.
I was thinking more along the lines of the Schenns and a 2nd. |

MDZ-Gudas compliment each other well. Gudas runs out of position to make a hit, and MDZ tries to cover for him. Everyone gets a participation award and then party. - jmatchett383

Ghost can blow coverage and fall down trying to cover Mike Fisher just as well as Schultz can. - jmatchett383
but it's better schultz does it while ghost learns the NHL game |

I think Konecny might have made the team under previous Flyers management regimes. |

Some of the numbers can be explained by many of these dmen getting punishingly difficult DZ starts, but only some. - Feanor

(Takes some of the usage and team-related edge off the numbers.)
(Schultz and Streit are still pretty low-ranked.)
(That Ekblad kid ain't half bad.)
(For all his memorable blunders, Gudas is apparently doing a lot of things right.) |

Morin, Konecny and Provorov would all be in O&B right now under Homer/Clarke, lol.
Maybe Sanheim, too.
Then all would be LA Kings by 2018. |

We should keep him. Dallas has enough forwards. What would they trade us anyhow? |

Konecny at 24 and Sanheim at 17 should make all of our pants tighter. Very impressed with Hextall's drafts so far. |

I judge them based on their jerseys numbers, the number of letters in their last names, and their skate size.
They're clearly awful. |

isnt a positive of having a mobile guy like ghost the ability to cover for defensive gaffs? - YuenglingJagr
Idk maybe I'm thinking a little too simplisticly. I'm just thinking, manning seems to make a good amount of errors (granted he's young, and I honestly haven't been able to watch all that much of this season), but I'm thinking if he plays with someone positional sound like schenn, ghost won't have to use his mobility to cover for someone else, aND can use his mobility to get the puck out of the zone. Whether that's the right train of though, that remains to be seen I suppose lol |

Yes, he's not suited to play in a shutdown role. No one on our current D is fit for it. So yes, much like AMac in NYI, he's playing a role he's not suited for. However, just because he's the guy doing it doesn't mean that someone else can't do it better. Maybe they can, maybe they can't. You will defend this guy to the death and I just don't get why the same way that you can't see why I don't like him.
Most of the players have at least one area that they excel at, or that they are clearly above average at. Nick Schultz is just an "average at everything" kind of guy, like a poor man's Sean O'Donnell. I'd honestly like to try Luke Schenn and MDZ as our top shutdown pair, as I think they could compliment each other well and are as good defensively as Schultz. - jmatchett383
Thank you. |

I wasnt necessarily suggesting you were wrong, just highlighting the other side of that argument. To me it is more about the pairings as a whole. I think MDZ-Gudas, Schenn-Meddy, Ghost-Manning have all worked before so it makes sense.

On the bright side, after this season. Ghost is gonna be used to be playing with a mediocre D partner, can only imagine how good he'd look with a legit top 4 dman every night |

Really wonder how long Streit was playing with that injury.
I know he "is what he is" when he's healthy, but it's still worth asking.
