Good game overall, few warts, but Ottawa is a team that has talent & they're an opportunistic bunch.

Wonder if Gudas gets a call from DoPS for his hit on Zibanejad. I was really surprised he didn't get hit with a penalty for that.

Mason looked really good, has a good groove going. Always figured he'd rebound, but still great to see.

Medvedev's bad turnover, not to excuse him, featured some bad play all around. He should have taken his time, skated it around the net and read the situation better. That said, it looked like Laughton could have skated harder to the puck, and Cousins was a step behind Smith as he got free in the slot, and Mason was at his mercy.

Really want to see Voracek off the Frenchy Line. Obviously the Couturier line is staying intact, but I'd like to see something similar to Feanor's lines from the other blog-maybe Laughton & Voracek centered by Giroux. Then use Raffl & Schenn with Cousins and McDonald with Bellemare & VandeVelde.

I think Schenn & Medvedev can be a solid pair, but the early returns were not encouraging. Both can play a lot better than they did tonight

2 reasons I don't think Gudas should be suspended: Zibenajad's head was at shoulder level and he didn't follow through with the elbow/forearm, he mainly followed through by skating through him.

I like how much Gudas makes forwards think about him.

I'm not in love how he gets out of position to deliver a hit. And he doesn't cower away from guys, even though he's not a great fighter.

But that type of dangerous play is kinda what I was worried about with him when we acquired him.

He can't help the team if he's in the box or suspended.

Yeah, flat out elbow to the head. Pretty blatant. No history, didn't get fined or suspended in past 18 months, although a hit on Upshall was looked at last year

Thought Manning and Ghost had a solid game , respect that Manning stood up to Neil last game didn't win but showed up, can guarantee Medvedev would not have fought Neil like Manning did. Still think there's room for him on Roster with way Cap is and his low cap of $625.000.

For all the heat he takes..Manning did his job last night. If he can play like that he is well worth the 650K for a 6th Dman.
